"Go. Now!"
She screamed as her body was scorched, flames licking hungrily at the torn remains of her dress. She gripped her head in her hands, trying to block out the voices. She didn't want to go. She wasn't supposed to!!
"Please. Please..." His voice was filled with sorrow as he pleaded, his strength finally giving out.
"I'll be back for you. I promise."
~Chapter 4~
Candy slumped down in her seat, trying to hide behind her thick math textbook, "Can't someone else?"
Mrs. Woodruff shook her head, a frown still on her lips as she spoke, "You didn't disagree when your name was called. So.... I suggest you get comfortable, Miss Rose."
The boy with spiky jet black hair and electric blue highlights. This boy with entrancing grey eyes.
Why did the nerd have to get stuck with him?
'My life.... officially sucks.'
~A few days later, Candy stood outside the doors, shivering. Someone had stolen her coat during sometime after recess. Yes, this school still had recess, just swings and a soccer field, but it was better'n nothing.
Immature brats.
Candy screeched as her vision suddenly went black, a heavy weight on top of her head. She slowly, cautiously, reached up and picked the object up, peeking out at a large figure. She slid the coat off her head and scrunched her nose up, "I think you flung this at me Austin".
A small smile played at his lips, his grey eyes bright and dancing, "For you, my princess."
Candy shook her head, shoving the coat back into his hands, pushing her glasses up her nose in a superior way, "I told you to back off."
"I don't listen very well."
Candy threw her hands up, exasperated, then went back to shivering, sniffling lightly, "Go with your friends."
She tensed as Austin slid the coat around her shoulders in a flourish, shaking his head, glancing at the girls that were trying to catch his attention as they walked past, shooting jealous looks at Candy, "I only need you."
"What have you been smoking, man? We don't even know each other!"
Austin turned his eyes back to hers and smirked, his eyes seeming to mock her with secrets, "We go way back, Candy. Farther then you'd imagine."
