Prologue

Katie's P.O.V.

"Katie can you do my makeup" said Lulu.

Lulu's my best friend, and has been for years. Ever since we were born, we've always been attached to each other. It's like we were made to be best friends.

My name is Katie Wise, I live all the way in the middle of nowhere. Well, not necessarily nowhere. It's that, everything's spaced out. You have to go miles, just to get to a gas station.

So, can you imagine a grocery store.

The college I go to isn't that far. It's only a couple miles up the road.

That's my area in a nutshell. Sounds boring doesn't it? Trust me, you don't know the half of it. Lulu is the only person that keeps excitement in my life here - she's "the life of the party" kind of person. -

"Sure I'll do your makeup" I said.

I pulled out my supplies, from my desk, and started doing her makeup. After about 10 minutes I was done.

"Are you ready to look" I said dramatically.

One more thing, I'm really weird. So weird, you'll see me dancing in the street with a turkey on my head.

I turned the mirror to her.

"I look beautiful!! Thank you so much" she said.

"You're welcome" I said.

"I don't know why, you don't become a professional makeup artist" she said.

"I'm not good at doing other people's makeup" I said.

"Stop fishing for compliments" she said punching me on the shoulder. " You know you're good."

"What if I mess up? I'll have you know, makeup is very important to a lot of people" I said.

"Katie, you are the best makeup artist ever. You make everything look flawless. No one can do makeup like you, trust me. You should really try it out. Besides, they do make a lot of money" she said.

If you use the words Money, Food, Fun, or Drinks around me. Then you've got my full attention. Especially money. I LOVE money.

"They do?" I said now intrigued.

"Yeah, especially you. Considering your really good" she said.

"That does seem like a good idea, and I have to pay off my money for books from college" I said.

This is my last year of college. Another fact about me, I started college really early. I went in at 14. I was really smart for my age so, they sent me to college for a few months to see how I would do. I did great, apparently, and they kept me there on a free ride scholarship. Now I'm 19 and it's my last year. This would pay off the costs that weren't in the scholarship. I could also use the extra money.

"So, are you gonna do it?" she said.

"Fuck yeah I'm going to do it!!" I said.

"That's my girl" she said.

"Who would hire me though?" I questioned. "I didn't go to college for it, and I'm a new makeup artist "

"Leave that to me" she said.

"What are you going to do?" I said.

She went in her book bag, and took out her laptop. Still not answering me, she looked up on the Internet.

Where To Hire A Makeup Artist on google.

"I just found you a job" she said.

"Where?" I said.

"Looks like your favorite band needs a makeup artist" she said with a smirk.

"5sos!!! You're lying!!" I said, you could feel the excitement in my voice.

"Come look" she said.

"5sos is hiring a makeup artist. Send in a video of what you can do with makeup, and you just might win" I read aloud.

"Oh? You have to audition" she said.

"Damn it! Learn to read the print first, you made me excited for nothing. I'm never going to make it. There are people that are better than me, that sent in a video. I know it" I said.

"Would you just try it!! Stop always trying to find a way not to do things" she said.

She was right. I do tend to do that.

"I don't know, what if I don't make it?"

"If you don't try, you'll never know"

I sighed. She always has to be right.

"Fine I'll submit a video. If I don't get it I'm blaming you" I said. I blame her for everything. It's our thing.

"You won't need to blame me" she said smugly, knowing to herself that she would be right.

We grabbed my camera, and tripod, then went to make the video.
