Project Z (Bucky Barnes Fanfiction)

Chapter 2

The girl looked around and waited till her eyes to adjust to the little sunlight that was left.

The gunshots wouldn't stop and a few men lunged at Bucky, Natasha and her.

The girls first reaction was to brace herself for their torment but Bucky and Natasha had other ideas.

Natasha took one while Bucky took the other.

Natasha hit him in the jugular and the knocked him out quickly with her elbow.

Bucky on the other hand was in a fist fight and easily knocked him out with one punch from his metal arm.

"Steve or Clint, we found an enhanced. Could either of you help with her? You know I'm not the best with these situations." Bucky said to his earpiece.

"She's not responding like the other enhanced." A guard told Strucker.

"So up the voltage and dosage the next treatment okay?" He snapped and walked towards her.

"You're going to be an enhanced, you just don't know it yet." He spat at her.

The girl backed up and hit a tree unexpectedly. Since she didn't expect to hit anything, she screamed and a pulse radiated from her.

Everyone within a ten foot radius was blasted away from her. Bucky and Nat hit a tree and the two bodies on the ground were thrown into the rubble of the building.

Bucky and Natasha got up and groaned a little.

Bucky looked at her for a second but he broke his gaze away because they heard two sets of footprints running towards us.

"Hey Buck, what just happened?" A voice asked and she looked over at the new man.

He was tall, blonde, and very well built. He was dressed in red, white, and blue and was carrying his shield.
Captain America.

"Well Steve I would love to answer that but I don't even know. I don't know her name but we found another enhanced." Bucky said and Steve looked at her.

"Her power?" He asked.

"I don't know it yet." She whispered quietly and Captain America nodded a little as he was catching his breath.

"It's okay, we'll help you figure out your power and how to control it." Captain America said and she looked down at my bare feet in the snow.

"Tony, get the QuinnJet over to us." Natasha said through her earpiece and the girl kept her gaze on my feet.

Everyone was silent as they waited for something. The girl kept her gaze on her feet until the wind was too strong and she looked up.

"A jet was landing and everyone was acting like it was just natural. How was it natural to have a huge jet land right in front of you? " The girl thought. 

Once the jet landed everyone started to get in but Bucky didn't get on until he motioned for the girl to get on.

She slowly walked on and sat down in the corner seat of the jet.

Bucky walked to the jet and the door closed right behind him.

Everyone sat down as the jet ascended into the air and she hung onto the seat and didn't let go until people got up and started moving around.

She watched as everyone was moving around and saw three people standing over something blue and gold, something that looked familiar.

"It feels good doesn't it? I mean, you've been after this thing since SHIELD collapsed. Not that I haven't enjoyed our little raiding parties, but..." One sighed.

"No, but this...this brings it to a close." Another said, this one is very tall with long blonde hair. It's not captain America, this one seems like he's a little out of his element. Thor.

"As soon as we find out what else this has been used for. I don't just mean weapons. Since when is Strucker capable of human enhancement?" Another blonde guy says and the girl looked down as Bucky sits next to her.

"Are you injured?" He asked and she shook my head as I looked down at the ground. "Do you remember your name?" He asked and she paused, thinking for a second before shaking her head. "Well, once we get back to New York Dr. Banner is going to examine you for any injuries and help determine what your power is okay?" He asked and she nodded a little, still apprehensive but she agreed anyway. "You're going to have to talk to me a little." He whispered and she nodded a little. "Okay." She whispered softly and looked at him. 

"Get some rest, I'll wake you when we get to New York." He said smiling a little and stood up.

The girl nodded and curled up. She closed her eyes, and tried to fall asleep. Since she  was in Hydra she had a lot of practice sleeping in uncomfortable positions so even tough she was still kind of scared, she was able to go to sleep and stay asleep. 

Hours later she felt someone shaking her awake. She jolted awake and stood up, looking around to try to remember where she was.

"We're back in New York." Bucky said as she rubbed her eyes. "Banner's in the lab, I can take you there." He said and she nodded and walked out of the jet. She followed Bucky down the many hallways of HQ. 

She followed him in silence until Bucky finally spoke. "So you have no memory of who you were before going through Strucker's experiements?" He asked and she thought for a second. 

"I actually have no idea. I thought I did but I don't. I don't know who I am." She said and stopped walking. Bucky looked back at her and stopped when he realized she wasn't walking with him. 

"I know how you feel. If you don't know who I am based on the arm, my name is Bucky Barnes. Also known as the Winter Solider. When I realized that I wasn't who Hydra made me to be, that I actually was a good person who had done horrible things, I had no idea who I was and how I was going to begin to learn who I was again." Bucky said as he looked at her and gently put his hands on his shoulders. "You're going to be okay, and you're going to figure out who you are. It's not going to be easy but you will, and I'm going to help you." Bucky said and she smiled a little. 

What Bucky had said made her feel better, like she wasn't exactly alone and that there was hope for her. Actual hope that she was going to remember who she was and what her life was like before the horror she went through. 

"Okay, thank you Bucky." She said and he smiled gently. 

"Of course, now let's get you to Dr. Banner so he can possibly help you remember and see what your power actually is." He said and started down the hallway again with the girl following closely behind.
