"Hey Jen, what do you think of that new kid Xavier?"  Allie asked me, putting turkey on a piece of white bread. We had made sandwiches every day after school at my house ever since we could remember. We'd go up to my room, eat, watch t.v, and talk about boys. Well, mostly Allie would talk about boys, I'd just sit there and nod my head, and pretend my sandwich was the most interesting thing in the world.

"He's...alright, I guess" I said concentrating on spreading my mayo.

"Where'd he say he moved from? New York City? We rarely get those. Gotta be different then stupid old Burbank" she said, walking up the stairs into my room, and I shortly followed.

"Probably"

I opened the door to my room. Allie took her usual place, on my bed, and I sat on the floor.

"When I walked into school today, I was like, 'Oooh damn, what have we here?'"

"I know, I was right next to you" I said, annoyed.

"He'll be mine at the end of the week" she bit into the sandwich. "Good, you bought the turkey I told you to"

"But you did see all the girls come up to him at lunch, right? They were all hyped up that a New York City boy came to town"

Allie got off the bed and  placed her  hand on my shoulder. "Look, Jenny. This girl's got something that none of those other girls have."

I rolled my eyes. Whenever Allie liked a guy, she'd always tell me that she has something the other girls don't.

"Allie, you've been saying this since we were 12 years old, you don't need to remind me every time you like someone!" I couldn't help but raise my voice.

"Calm your balls, geez, what's up with you? Are you just jealous because he'll be taken by me and not you?"

"No its...nevermind" I could never tell her. Deep down, I knew Allie could probably win over Xavier. And I'd be standing there on the sidelines, watching.
