When Allie and I walked into school that Monday morning, all of the senior girls were all over Xavier like monkeys clinging to a tree. What a great way to start the week.
Sickening, really.
And it kind of looked like Xavier didn't like all the attention. Like when Annabell Giddens, probably the sluttiest girl at school tried to give him a hug in her tank top and skirt so short you could see her ass, he nearly pushed her into the lockers. Damn, did that shock her.
And other than seeing Xavier getting attacked by tall blondes in slutty outfits with hormones raging, we saw yellow slips of paper taped on each of the lockers. Allie sighed, "Its time for the school play already?" Every year in the beginning of the school year, they did a play. Allie and I were never the people to get up on stage and act our hearts out, so we often ignored the fliers and took them off our lockers. But, this year, I thought about maybe trying out. If I could hide my real feelings from Allie, I could sure enough do this play.
"I'm gonna go to the auditions" Allie's jaw dropped, and before she could get any words out of her mouth, I pulled the tape off the flyer and held it in my hands. "Perfect, its today right after school, in the field."
"But Jennnnn! After school we always go to your house and make sandwiches! We've never missed a day!"
I sighed. That was true. But something inside me was telling me that I could do it. I was going to look at the paper again, when I noticed it wasn't in my hands anymore. Allie didn't have it, her hands were clenched in white fists. I saw a blur of blonde curls to my right and turned that direction to see who it was.
"Here, Xavier!" it was Annabell giving my flier to him. "You can have it " she patted his dirty blonde spikes like she was petting a puppy. "She'd never get a part in that play anyway!" I saw him give a sympathetic look at me, but just then the bell rang for first period, and I walked to my class.
The day went by really slow, and I could not wait to go home and make sandwiches with Allie. Wait. Then I remembered that I wasn't going home today. My feet were leading me towards the door, but before Allie saw me going that way, and would try to persuade me to go home with her, I walked towards the field. Why, it was going to be at the field, I don't know. But then I remembered Monday's and Wednesdays they had homework club. Hey, I went once. And will never go again.
As I got out to the grass, I saw a ton of people talking, and noticed the drama teacher Mr. Sines was yelling at the kids sitting on the grass, looking as if they were forced by their parents to try out. "This play needs to be the best one I've ever done in the 20 years that I've taught here! This is my last year! Dean, stop eating the grass!"
As I was listening to Mr. Sines' yelling, I heard another noise that overpowered it. The kids he was yelling at didn't seem to notice, and neither did he, so I just carried on. I saw a blur of green, and it sounded like bushes were rustling. Hmm...I have time to check this out, Mr. Sines doesn't know me... I realized the sounds were kissing noises, and went into get a closer look.I could just make out the dirty blonde spikey tips of hair that was so familiar, yet I couldn't put my finger on it. I moved some of the bush leaves, and whoever the loudest kissers ever were, didn't seem to notice. Then I realized who it was. I fell back a few steps. It was Xavier. Making out with a dude.
