Ever since I was a young girl I was always curious as to how moving to a different house would feel. If I would be happy, sad, excited, destroyed, or even untouched. But now since it's actually happening? I realized that it's a pain in the ass and I would much rather be eating hot pockets.

I sighed at the thought of food and grunted as I walked off of my property moving a mass quantity of boxes to the moving truck for what felt like the hundredth time, already feeling my muscles tighten and wanting to collapse. Moving is most definitely NOT fun. But, today is the big moving day for my mom and I from our old house in New York City to the sunshine state of Miami, Florida. I can't help but feel excitement, but I also can't help the aggravation and anxiety I am currently undergoing.

"Was that the last package?" My moms voice spoke behind me, causing me to have a mini heart attack, "Honky Donkey, Mom. Are you trying to be a personal laxative or something?"

She clapped her hands letting out a big chuckle and kissed my cheek. If there's one thing I love most about my mom, it's the fact that we get along so well and nothing is ever awkward between us.

"But to answer your question, I believe there's one more box in the garage. I'll go get it." The words came out fluently as I headed back to the house that used to be mine. The house that I grew up in for seventeen years. The house that has so many memories, good and bad. The house that I grew up in without a father.

I stopped in my tracks as the idea of a dad came to my mind. "I wonder if I have one."

The words slipped out by accident as I bent over to pick up the last box. I hope no one heard that. Shaking my head getting rid of those notations, I walked at a rather fast pace back to the moving truck just wanting to be done with this whole process.

"There," I said as I shoved the last final box in the truck, "We are now officially done...Until we get to the other house." My insides churned at the thought of having to unpack but there's more important things on my mind right now. For example, when am I going to get food?

My mom smiled wide and wrapped her tiny arms around me pulling me close to the side, a gesture she has done my whole life when she's proud. Naturally, I wrapped my arms around her and hugged her tight as we stood staring at our 'used to be' house. I'm going to miss this place and I knew she was going to too.

"Are you ready to go?"  A soft murmur spoke, causing us to let go of each other. Mom nodded towards the truck drivers as they reared up their engines one by one. I quickly pulled out my phone and snapped a picture of the house and with my mom once more before we had to head to our car.

"It's currently 7:30 p.m. at night so we should be arriving at our new house around 8:30 a.m. tomorrow morning." Mom spoke as we shut our doors and put the new address into our GPS. I groaned knowing that it was going to be a 13 hour car ride, but long car rides mean food and food is all I want and care about right now.

Mom reared up her car engine and started pulling away and out of our neighborhood for the last and final time. I looked up at the sky and pressed my head against the window, trying to not be an emotional wreck. This is already worse than I thought it would be and we just started our new journey.

"Hey, it's going to be okay, Paris." Moms hand placed itself on my knee trying to cheer me up. "You'll make new friends on the first day and throughout the school year, the neighborhood we're moving into is very lovely, as well as the scho-" I cut my mom off, "Mom, no school is 'lovely'. School itself is filled with a bunch of bratty, stuck up, smelly people." She looked at me and rose her eyebrow, "Are you still upset about the one guy that slapped you in the face with his sweaty man boob during basketball in p.e.?" I cringed and playfully smacked my moms hand away from my knee, "Yes! It was sweaty and smelt like rotten tacos! Not to mention but I also had a killer headache afterwards!"
