Letter to My Hater/s

To the person who seemed to cheer for my successes but celebrated my failures,
I will not ask what I've done to you.
I am fairly certain that I've never done anything to offend you.
I will not hate you for I have known hate all my life, and I refuse to retaliate with hate.

I will, instead, move on.
From your bitter remarks and hateful comments.
I will forget your accusations and the rumors you started.
I will live my life to the fullest.

I will finish my studies.
I will achieve my lifelong dream of teaching.
I will enjoy the company of my friends and the love of my family.
I will love my life and the people in it.
And I will forget you even existed.

And you, maybe you'll stop hating me.
Maybe find someone new to hate.
Maybe you'll keep hating me
Maybe you'll even forget me.

Before this ends
As strange as it may be,
I must thank you
For hating me.

Without your negativity
I wouldn't have had the motivation to prove someone wrong
I wouldn't have had the drive to anger someone with my success
And I wouldn't have had the confidence that comes with having a hater.

So thank you and have a nice life.
Despite what you did, I wish you the best
May you find something that causes you to abandon hate
And finally, I hope you grow enough to choose kindness.
