Note: I have no idea how private jets work
also everyone kind of says Lachlan is royalty but he's really not3rd POV
Rob woke up from his dreamless sleep to the feeling of the plane touching down. He looked over to see Lachlan writing in, what looked to be, a diary since it was a book with no title. Lachlan said nothing as he looked over seeing Rob watching him as he closed his book and putting his pen in his pants pocket. The only thing they could do now was lean back and wait for the pilot to turn off the "buckle seat belts" light.
After a few minutes, filled with an awkward silence, the doors open and the flight attendants say they can leave the main cabin, which they do. Rob lets out a deep sigh of content when his feet touch the solid ground again looking out at the clear blue skies of FREEDOM. (what)
"It's beautiful," Rob comments after a worker hands him his luggage and quietly thanking them.
"Eh," Lachlan shrugs making Rob roll his eyes expecting nothing more from the blonde.
"I think we'll like it here," Rob states nudging Lachlan's shoulder with his elbow as they're led inside the building. Since they're kind of royalty, they were instructed to land at a private airport so the people wouldn't notice the private jet and get curious of who flew in it.Lachlan only lets out a deep breath before nodding his head ever so slightly. Rob felt something was wrong with the guy, but he didn't bother to bring it up in case Lachlan would get defensive again. Maybe he only needs some time to warm up to me. Rob thought to himself.
"Welcome to America, your majesty!" a voice exclaims behind the two boys making both of them slightly jump (Rob a lot more than Lachlan). "Katrina said she mentioned me. I'm Choco outside of school. In school, call me Mr. Kweh. I work for the US government in foreign affairs and protection," he states shaking their hands. "I'm not sure if she told you but I'm the new substitute guidance counselor, but my boyfriend, who goes by Kenny will be the fill in PE teacher. Call him Mr. Worth. Your parents have chosen an apartment for you both to share relatively close to the school, but I recommend you drive which is why we're about to go buy a car. One of you can drive, right?"
Rob immediately looks at Lachlan, since his parents wouldn't let him get a license or even really get behind the wheel of a car. Lachlan nods. "Good," Choco smiles, "we got both of your guys information transferred into a US one saying you're both from Maine. Usually, it'd be illegal since we're using a different name, but we'll bend the rules."
For royalty. Was all Rob was thinking. We're only getting all of this because we're royalty.
Sure, all of the things made it easier, but the only reason he wanted to come here was because he didn't want everything handed to him. He wanted to work for it.
"Remember, only a few people know about you two being royalty. Don't show anyone in school your license, because usually it's take awhile to get one if you just came to a new country. Only show it if an official asks, aka you get pulled over by a cop, but hopefully that won't happen."
Choco leads the pair out of the hangar and leads them to a black SUV and someone opens the door for them. The trio climbs in, with Rob and Lachlan next to each other and Chocolate across from them. "Right now, we're going to get a car, then we're going to the apartment you two will be staying at. By the way, another car has taken your luggage to the apartment."
~•~
After buying a normal car, (I know nothing about cars) with Choco advising not to get anything too flashy, Rob and Lachlan drove to the apartment alone, with guidance from a GPS. The one thing the two had agreed on since they've gotten to America, was to get a car where the top rolled back making it a convertible. Choco didn't really like that decision, but he let the two make the final decision. At least they didn't pick a mustang or BMW or something like that.
The drive was filled with an awkward feeling that Rob really didn't like, but he was kind of afraid of making a move to try and talk to Lachlan, who was driving. Currently, the top was down and the two were just cruising down the street with their sunglasses on since the sun was beating down on them, even if it was November. Back at Royaume, it would probably be about 20 degrees F while here, in Southern California, it was a nice 62. (I legit looked up statistics for this) "The weather is really hot over here," Lachlan comments making Rob want to scream out loud.
OH MY GOD HES TALKING TO ME.
was all that was going through the brunette's head. "Yeah. It'll take me awhile to get used to it," Rob says as calmly as he could. It took all of him to not shout at Lachlan about how nice it is for him to talk to Rob. Yeah, it sounds kind of weird and creepy, but from the time he met Lachlan, he's been afraid they'll never have a real conversation. He'd been hoping that he could get a at least one new friend out of this experience, and he thought maybe Lachlan could be that one. He tries not to judge quickly, but it seems like Lachlan isn't one with a ton of friends either. Maybe they both could use a new friend. "Do you think we can do this? Survive til the rest of the year?" Rob asks wondering what Lachlan thought about this whole thing.
Lachlan only shrugs before responding with a simple, "guess we'll have to find out."
