Brahms's whole posture went ridged as Ruby looked at him with a questioning stare. Ruby didn't want to pressure him to reveal anything but at the same time she wanted to know why this grown man was moving in the walls. For all she knew he could've been watching her while she slept, changed, showered...

"I don't want to pressure you into anything... I' just curious. Do your parents know you live in the walls?" Brahms gave her a kind of 'are you serious' look.

"Right... Stupid questioned. How long have you been in the walls?" One again Brahms just looked at her through his mask. He didn't say anything.

"Okay... Did you ever come out? You know, before I came here?" Nothing.

"Brahms... I'm trying to understand here..." Ruby pleaded her case.

"Wait for Mummy and Daddy." Was all he said in a small child like voice.

"They won't be back for another few days... What am I supposed to do? Let you carry on living in the walls? It looked bad in there."

 "Wait for Mummy and Daddy."

"We can't just sit here fo-"

"WAIT FOR MUMMY AND DADDY!" Brahms had growled in a deep manly voice while pushing everything to the floor and knocking his chair back.

Ruby was startled and moved as far back as she could. She quickly found the counter stopping her from moving back anymore. She stared at him with wide eyes as he walked closer to her. Closer and closer until he was right in front of her. Ruby could feel his breath from under the mask hitting the top of her forehead. She was at least 2 feet shorter than Brahms.

"We wait for Mummy and Daddy." Was all Brahms stated in a calm voice, lifting his hand as pushing a strand of hair behind her ear.

Ruby's breath caught in her throat. Some how her eyes widened and she tried to squeeze herself backwards. Brahms either didn't notice this or he ignored it as he stroked her cheek almost affectionately.

 "Okay." Ruby whispered, scared.

"I'm sorry. I've been bad haven't I?" Brahms asked her stepping away with an almost sad expression.

How he managed to change his voice, and emotion so quickly, Ruby didn't know. It scared her more than she would ever admit.

"No... I- I- It's okay..." Emerly stuttered out. "About those rules... I don't really need to follow them now do it? I mean I could cook you food and give it to you..." She trailed of at the look of his eyes under the mask.

"Rules are rules Ruby." Was all he said.

"I know that I'm just saying it would be easier I-" She cut herself off at the way he tilted his head at her, "Or we could stick to the rules... Yeah, let's just do that." She coughed out.

The next few days went by rather quickly. They weren't too difficult. Ruby would go on about her day as usual. The only unusual aspect was Brahms was strolling from room to room often doing whatever he desired to do at that moment. The one place Ruby found Brahms the most was in the library.

Considering the many years he spelt hidden away in the walls Brahms was actually a very bright man. He enjoyed reading the books and would often take bulks of them back to where he decided to sleep that night. Ruby couldn't remember the last time she saw him go back into the walls.

Ruby had reached news from Mr and Mrs Heelshire that they were to return later on in the day and to say Ruby was scared was an understatement. What was she supposed to say? 'Hey Mr Heelshire, Mrs Heelshire, I did everything you asked and guess what?! I found your son living in the walls' Yeah, No.

"Brahms?" Ruby called out from the kitchen, laying a bowl of soup on the table.

A few minutes later Brahms came into the room with a questioning look in his eyes.

"Dinner." Brahms nodded and took a seat.

"Thanks." He whispered out.

"You're welcome. Your mother and father are returning later and I thought we should talk about... Well, you." Brahms looked up, tilting his head. "I was just wondering... What would your mother and father say about me finding out you lived in the walls? Am I the only one other than them who knows you live in the walls?"

"Yes" Brahms replied.

"So no one else knows?"

Brahms shook his head while Ruby made a short 'oh.' She really didn't know what to do. Would they be angry? Would they know she didn't look after the doll? Whatever happened Ruby knew she was in for a bashful.
