It was strange to think, that moments before I had a totally different outlook on life, I thought that being the person I am, I would never be able to witness something like this. Standing in the middle of the ocean in the Maldives? Something that was only ever scribbled down on my bucket list when I was 12. For this to be a reality, was something my small mind won't ever be able to comprehend.
Three days previous to now was when I arrived, I wasn't sure where I was going to stay, I got off the plane, went straight through the terminals and took the boat to the island. First night? I just stayed on the beach all night, sounds incredibly stupid, but I thought being able to say to someone "Oh yeah, I've actually slept on a beach in the Maldives".
Now you must be wandering, how on earth did I manage to save up enough money to go to the freaking Maldives? Well, I worked all day, everyday for the past five years. I saved up all my money, survived on tap water and cup noodles for those five years also, I don't actually know how I'm not dead yet.
Anyway, I had enough saved up to come here so that's what I did. I obviously still have money left over to go to other places too, something I plan to do soon.
I have managed to find a place to stay, I also managed to bag myself a cheeky job, just cleaning up rooms in a hotel, while also living in one of the rooms. I only earn a small amount of the money I do earn from my "boss" obviously to pay for cost of my room. I don't really know how long I plan to stay, being spontaneous has had its perks so far. I don't want this adventure to end, ever.
I'm now currently mopping up wine stains off wood flooring in one of the rooms, not something I thought I'd ever do once I moved away. But hey ho, still need to have some source of income.
I walk over to the drawers placed behind the bathroom door and search for a cloth or some sort of material that I could use to dry up the bleach I've just used. "C'mon! There has to be something here.." I say to myself as I continue on with my rummaging.
"Yes!" I say as I retract my fully immersed head from one of the cupboard doors at the bottom of the set of drawers. Only to bump my head, causing me to fall backwards with a huge thud.
"For fuck sak-"
My anger suddenly interrupted by the main door of the room opening. "I know right! Your guitar playing was insane man, think you need to give me some tips." I hear someone say.
I stand up faster than the speed of sound, still rubbing the back of my head. "Hey! Whoever's there you can't in here?" I walk further in to the entrance of the fancy room, to view whoever this person was. "Did you not see th-"
I was met with a dashingly rugged looking boy. His hair was in sandy blonde curls, which he ran a hand through, looking down in the process. I just stood there in my awe, looking completely clueless.
"Did we not see what?" He questioned, kind of giving me the same look that I was giving him. "Oh d-did y-you not the sign? It clearly says 'NO ENTRY- CLEANING IN PROGRESS.'" I stressed the no entry part to make my small self seem more demeaning and annoyed, however, I don't think it worked.
"Um I-I guess I didn't see it sorry, Luke did you see it?" the boy turned round to look at his rather tall friend, he looked like a tree to say the least. Luke, as so he's called, chirped up after the three of us exchanging awkward glances just minutes before. "I literally didn't, we were too busy talking about my awesome guitar playing!" He said, starting to move around at the last part, making himself look like a right nonce.
"Who even sent you up here? Was it the woman with the glasses? She told me to come up and clean this room for the next guests- obviously meaning you too." I started looking round, finger to my lip, biting the nail.
