Alfred waited on the grand staircase of the Waldorf Astoria, he kept fixing the cuffs of his black tuxedo. He glanced at his pocket watch, which his older brother had given to him on his birthday in 1787. He placed it back in his pocket and looked up the stairs only to lose his breath. There, in all her glory, stood Natalia, in a beautiful blue ball gown, her platinum blonde hair done up in a low, messy bun. To him she looked stunning, she held a smile on her face, which made him smile. He held out a hand, allowing her to to take it.
"You look beautiful" Alfred complimented as they walked hand in hand into the ballroom, Natalia blushed
"I had help" she admitted "My siastra (Sister in Belarusian) helped me." Natalia and Alfred looked over at Katyusha, the personification of Ukraine, who smiled in return. Alfred gave Natalia a gentle twirl as he led her to the dancefloor, just as a slow song came on. "A-Alfred I-I don't know how to dance like this." Natalia became flustered making Alfred chuckle softly
"Just follow my lead" He said with a smile as he began to follow the rhythm of the song, he hummed a small tune in her ear "Heaven, I'm in Heaven And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak And I seem to find the happiness I seek When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek" Alfred sang softly in Natalia's ear, she began to sing along
"Heaven, I'm in Heaven And the cares that hung around me through the week Seem to vanish like a gambler's lucky streak When we're out together dancing cheek to cheek" Natalia and Alfred twirled slowly, Natalia's head resting on Alfred's shoulder, a smile gracing her face. The night seemed to never end, as couples danced together, some more graceful than others, Natalia and Alfred dancing in the center. When the ball truly did end, around midnight or so, Alfred and Natalia walked hand in hand out into the cool night, they never wanted to let this feeling go, this feeling of love.
