"Shut up you spoiled brat!" Yelled my mother while slapping me across my already bruised cheek. "Go to your room I don't wanna have to look at your hideous face any longer!" She yells. I nod and quickly scurry up the creaking stairs to my room. I shut my door careful not to be to loud, then turn around and slide down, tucking my head between my knees. One lonely tear leeks out of my left eye leaving a salt trail down my cheek. I quickly wipe it away, "traitor." I mumble as I stand up and make my way to the closet to change into pajamas. After changing I tie my mess of hair into a bun before sliding into bed and drifting off into a dream less slumber.

I wake up to the sound of my phone alarm blaring in my ears. I quickly turn it off and hop out of bed nearly falling from the sudden movement. I regain my balance and go to my closet and pick out my outfit for the day. A pair of old, light blue, torn skinny jeans and a Guns and Rose tank top. I walk over to my tattered dresser where I do my makeup. A mirror is hung on the wall, cracked in a few places but still useful,  I grab my makeup and begin to cover up my bruises. Honestly, I don't mind how I look I'm not perfect but I could care less. I only wear makeup because my mother makes me, she doesn't want people to find out what happens behind closed doors. When I finish with makeup I look up at the mop that's on my head. I pull it down and quickly straighten it. Looking at the time, I realize I should probably get going considering school starts in 30 minutes and I have to walk to school. I grab my bag and throw on some black high top converse and leave undetected, which isn't surprising considering my mom and brother could care less about me.

I arrive at school five minutes before class starts. I use that time to sit and listen to some music before heading to class. I turn on some music, not even caring what song, and sit in a chair in the corner of the cafeteria where students go before we are released to first period.  When out of no where a apple core flies at me hitting me on the head and bouncing into my lap before rolling to my feet. I glance upward to see Maci Cooper laughing hysterically sitting on a table with her wanna be friends surrounding her. Suddenly, Gabriel walks past me and stops directly in front of Maci's clique and crosses his arms. "Just because your daddy is rich doesn't mean you have the right to mess with people, Maci." "Aww come on Gabe it's all fun and games, we were playing. If you want you could come to my place and we could play sometime." Maci says trying to be seductive by ending it with a wink which looks more like an awkward eye twitch. "Don't call me that, and why don't you play with your self Maci, I bet your good at that." Gabriel says before walking away. Maci looks shocked and embarrassed. She gets up and walks quickly into the corridor with her bob minions hot on her heels. As if on cue the bell rings signally the start if school.

Can you shutup, is All I can think staring at the back of Mr. Connors head. I hate math class and I hate Mr. Connor. He always has something to say and it's never good. "Brinley, could you please pay attention for once in your useless life." Mr. Cooper snaps at me causing a ripple of muffled laughter to sound across the room. Although Maci doesn't try to muffle her laughter. Maci is Mr. Coopers star student. I wouldn't be surprised if Maci's father pays Mr. Cooper to pass Maci. "Yes sir." I sigh.

Forty five minutes later we are released to lunch. Lunch is good and bad considering there is food, the bad part is people. Pretty much all people in this stupid school hate me but I'm used to it. I grab my lunch which consists of lasagna, tater tots, and orange juice... That school lunches for you. I seat myself by a window that on looks the woods. I open my orange juice carton and stare out into the woods as if it holds the answers to all my questions. I start thinking about what Gabriel did. Why'd he stand up for me. He's considered one of the schools 'bad boys' I guess you could say. Him and all his friends really. His little group includes him of course, Daniel, Elora, Kinsley, Quintin, and Bexley. They are are gorgeous, like I want the genes they got. Everyone adores them and considers them popular but they are humble and honestly steer away from most people.
That's why it shocked me when Gabriel stood up for me. Maci has been chasing him since he arrived at our school last year with his friends.

I jump when two hands slam onto the table. "Hi I'm Elora." I look to see a beautiful girl with long pink hair sticking her hand out with a smile that reaches her eyes. "Come on now my arm is getting tired." Elora says knocking me out of my trance. "Oh yeah.. Sorry, I'm Brinley." I said shaking her hand awkwardly. "That's pretty!" She says while hopping up to sit on the table as she pops a sucker into her mouth. "Thanks." I say looking around. Did her little group lose her or something? Wouldn't be very hard I'm guessing. "Not to be rude or anything but do you need something?" I ask trying to not sound rude. "Eh, not really you looked lonely." She says shrugging. "I have an idea!" She literally screams earning a few unkind looks. Before I could say anything she grabbed me by the arm and started dragging me off. Soon I find her little group and I realize she is taking me to their table. I starts to protest,"I'm fine I like being alo-" "Heeeey guys this is Brinley!" She says plopping down pulling me down with her. The other two girls greet me nicely. Quintin nods at me, Daniel shoots me a wink earning a slap on the back of the head by Kinsley. I look at Gabriel who doesn't acknowledge me. I just awkwardly smile at everyone.

After about ten minutes of everyone talking and me just sitting quietly listening, I glance up at Gabriel. I find him looking at me our gazes meet for a few seconds before he looks back down at his lunch. I look around and realize everyone is looking at me. I feel uncomfortable under all the attention. It must be because usually this little gang keep to themselves. If they did happen to let in a few new recruits I doubt it would be anyone like me. "Just ignore them." I hear from my right. I turn around to see Bexley leaning close to me. "Oh.. Yeah sorry I'll lea-" "no! We like having you here your cool, they can stare if they want it doesn't really affect us. Although we don't know exactly why they always stare. Looks like they are glaring daggers at you." She says fading off at the end. Before I can reply the bell sounds for our next class. Great.

I walk into the house and starts to head up the stairs. "Where do you think your going? There are dishes in the sink." My mother says. "Sorry I didn't know." I say before turning around and heading back down the stairs. "Did you talk back?" She questions before grabbing me by my arm, definitely gonna leave a bruise, she pushes me against the wall and slaps me across the face. She then kicked me in the back of the knee causing me to fall. She starts to kick me in the stomach. I curl up into a ball trying to block her kicks. "Go to your room!" She yells. I guess she'll make my brother do the dishes. I go on not my room and shut the door and fall on the floor in pain and start crying. I hate it here.

A few hours later my door flies open. "You bitch! Because of you I had to do the dishes and you made mom in a pissy mood!" He yells grabbing me by my hair and pulling me up before punching me in the jaw, dropping me back onto the floor. He storms out and slams the door. Crying, I crawl to my bed and curl up and fall asleep.
