After about 10 minutes of crying into Gabriel's now soaked shirt, I regain my composure and stand up. I realize I'm not wearing a shirt. Didn't I just put it back on? I look down and see it in shreds in the over grown grass. "Oh... Yeah the price of wings is usually your shirt. Unless you put small slits in the back, other wise poof there goes your shirt." Gabriel says laughing awkwardly. Gabriel gets up and we start walking back to the house. "Why don't we fly?" I ask trying to lighten the mood. "You haven't flown in years.. Do you really think that's a great idea?" He asks with a light smile. "Oh, I guess not." I say watching my feet. Me and Gabriel walk back in the house and immediately every one stands up and bows. Confused I look at Gabriel. "We were the two highest archangels." He reassures me. I make an 'oh' shape with my mouth and Elora runs over to me and pulls me into a warm embrace. "I've missed you so much." She crys. "I've missed you too." I reply. I turn back to Gabriel. "Wait how come I couldn't remember us being the two highest archangels?" I ask still very confused.
"All of our memories came back veeery slowly, heck for all we know we could still be missing some." Daniel answers for Gabriel, throwing his hands up in the air dramatically. Becoming aware of my shirtless torso I turn a bright shade of Crimson and cross my arms. "Oh! Sorry I'll get you a shirt Brin!" Kinsley yells running down the hall. She comes back with a tank top. Thanking her, I retract my wings and throw it on. Suddenly the door is thrown open and in walks a man covered in tattoos who looks extremely familiar. Then it hits me. They live with a guy named Raphael. Raphael is the archangel of healing. He takes off his shades and locks eyes with me. I can tell he thinks I'm familiar to considering the confusion plastered on his face. It hits him. "Brinley?" He murmurs. I run over and give him a hug. "Its good to see you kid." He says patting me on the back. "I'm guessing you know?" He asks. I nod causing him to bow his head in submission.
"Brinley, I still need to talk to you." A stern voice announces behind me. I turn around hoping he would have forgotten. "About?" I ask still thinking I can get off the hook. "The bruises and cuts." Damn, so close. "Oh, that." I say in disappointment. "Well you see what happen was, I was walking down the stairs in my house and I'm pretty clumsy so I took a tumble." I say ending with a awkward laugh hoping they'll believe it. Judging by there faces I guess they didn't. "I can't say." I sigh. "What do you mean you can't say!" Gabriel shouts eyes glowing again. Geez he needs anger management. "I will be punished." I say weakly. "Is it Maci?" Gabriel growls. "No!" "Then who!" He shouts slamming his hands against the wall, cracking it. I look to the others for help they all just look away or stare at Gabriel. Thanks, what great friends I have, I think to myself. "Gabriel, she'll tell you when she's ready." Raphael says putting his hand on Gabriel's arm. Gabriel not daring to hurt Raphael just looks down before storming out of the house. "Lets dye my hair!" Bexley shouts. Thankful for the topic change I agree.
2 hours later
"It's so pretty!" Bexley squeals. We ended up dying her hair a beautiful metallic silver. "Agreed." I say plopping on to the couch. Dang that hurt my feet to stand up for that long on tile. Out of no where Gabriel walks in from the back door. "Gabri-" before I can finish he has pulled me into a really tight embrace. "It's my job to protect you with everything I have. Even though it pains me to not know who is doing this I know your stubborn and you won't tell me. Just know I'm always here even though it would be best if you tell me who is abusing you so bad." He he says still hugging me. "I'll always protect you Brinley. Always. Never forget that. It's killing me knowing this is happening." He says shaking from anger. With tears in my eyes I reply. "I know I'm sorry but I can't say." I whisper. He inhales a deep breath then let's it out and nods. "Let's do something fun!" Elora yells. "Like what?" I ask. She bites her lip deep in thought. "Oh my gosh! How have we not already thought of this! We should take Brin to the tree house!" She says squealing. "We totally should!" Quintin agrees. "Raphael! We are taking Brin to the tree house, you coming?" Kinsley yells. No answer. "Guess not." Daniel huffs. We all head out grabbing jackets since its nearly dusk. We start walking towards the woods. My stomach starts to churn with nervousness. Yeah, yeah, I know I'm over a millennium old yet I'm scared of going into the woods while it's dark. Sue me. Gabriel senses my uneasiness and looks over to me and laughs silently. I slap him on the shoulder and cross my arms. After fifteen minutes of walking I start to think. Feeling curious I ask, "are we lost?" Daniel starts laughing. "Come on princess we have been coming here since we built it last year. I'm pretty sure we know we're we are going. It'll be about another ten minutes." Daniel says from the front of our group.
We finally reach the tree house. Let me just say it was not what I expected. "Wow it's amazing! Why is it so deep into the woods though?" I ask. "So no one can find it easily. We have some confidential stuff in there missy." Elora says walking past me. I look at the tree mansion and quickly realize something. "Uhh how do you get in it exactly?" I ask. "Oh yeah, just in case anyone found it we made it only Angel accessible." Quintin pipes in as his wings unfurl. Great. "But I can't fly yet!" I protested As everyone starts taking off towards the tree house. Before I can complain again I'm being lifted off the ground causing me to squeal. I look down to see two arms wrapped around my waist. I look up and see Gabriel's flawless face. This has to be a dream. I feel my feet hit the ground and I release a breath I didn't know I was holding.
We enter the tree house and I'm even more shocked by the inside. I looks like any ordinary house but way cooler. I look at a book on one of their many book shelves, it's labeled, Angels found. I open it and see rows and rows of names. "Your not the only angel we've found. There were a lot of angels cast out of heaven that day. So we decided to keep track. Would you like to sign your name?" Gabriel asks looking over my shoulder. I nod. "Wait I don't know my real last name.." I say quietly. "It's fine just write your first name and rank." Gabriel says smiling at me reassuringly while handing me a pen. So I did. I wrote down my information then slid the book back into it's place on the shelf then I walked out to the balcony where Gabriel was standing.
"Teach me to fly." I say looking at him as he gazes at the stars. "Are you sure your read-" "yes I'm sure." I say confidently. "That shirt has slits already cut so unfurl your wings." Gabriel instructs. I do as he says. It feels so good. Like stretching my muscles after sitting for a week straight. He does the same. "Do you have good balance?" He asks. "Good enough." I state. "Okay, let's get on top of this railing then I'm going to fly but stay on the railing." He says firmly. I nod. True to his word he starts to hover about fifteen feet away from the railing. "Okay so start flapping your wings and once you find a good pace just let your wings take you away from the railing. Keep your wings even in the air and stay calm." He tells me. I start to flap my enormous wings once I find a pace I think is suitable I walk off the railing. It all goes down hill from there. My left wings dips down pulling me to the left then my right wings tucks in making me start to fall with my wings uselessly hanging in the air. In shock I go still. Just now realizing how high the tree house really was I start to think, 'I probably should have started from the ground..' Before I come in contact with the hard unforgiving ground, I stop. I open my eyes to see Gabriel. "That's definitely keeping your wings even." He says with a hint of sarcasm. "Let's try again." I say with way to much enthusiasm. "You almost just plummeted to your death and you wanna try again?" He questions. "We can die?" I ask with a gasp. He just shakes his head with a sigh and mumbles, "oh dear lord please help her." I smack him on the chest before he sets me back on the railing. I try again this time succeeding. "Im flying!" I screech making Gabriel wince. Everyone comes out hearing the commotion. "Aye looks Brin's flying!" Quintin announces. Soon everyone joins and we are all flying around in a circle. We probably would have gone farther but I still wasn't quite used to flying yet and needed to be careful. After Gabriel told everyone about my fall and me turning a shade of crimson we all decided to go inside and watch a movie. I quickly fell asleep in Gabriel's arms. You have never slept until you feel how it feels to sleep in the arms of an angel.
And there's a chapter. Cool. Ikr. Anyways as always thank you for reading and pleeease tell me what you think. Don't be a ghost reader 👻. BYYEEE
