I wake up and immediately I know I'm extremely bruised. First of all breathing isn't quite working out for me. I sit up, wincing, and get out of bed. I hobble to the bathroom and brush my teeth and wash my face. "Get out of the bathroom, whore!" My brother shouts banging on the door. I open the door and try to slide past him. Didn't work. He yanks my hair and slams me against the wall, making my scalp bleed. I didn't dare say anything and risk getting in trouble for talking back. I slide down the wall as he storms into the bathroom. My mother walks by and kicks me. "What the hell do you think you're doing? Go get ready for school you lazy bitch!" She rolls her eyes.

I make my way to my room and put on my makeup. Good thing my hair is dark or the blood would show a lot more. Oh well, no one notices me anyways. I throw on clothes, not really caring what I look like, grab my backpack and run out of the house before anything else could happen. I stop at a little cafe and grab some coffee before walking the rest of the way to school.

I have first period math, fun. I'm pretty smart but I still don't like math. I sit in my desk in the corner of the class and do my work. Suddenly something hits me on the side of the head where my scalp was bleeding earlier that morning. I wince. I hear a snicker from across the room. I look over to see Zach Markus, 'star football player'. Well that's self proclaimed. He's really not all that great, Gabriel is way better. Wait wait wait, Brinley, get a hold of yourself. I don't even know Gabriel but I DO know he's pretty attractive. Not that it's any of my business, Maci practically claimed him. I look over at Zach to see him giving a high five to one of his buddies. I choose to ignore them and continue my work while things continue to hit me up side my head.

Soon enough I've been through half my day and it's lunch. Most kids are excited about lunch but not me because it means there are not people to mess with me. I hop in line get my lunch and make it to the east side of the cafeteria where hardly anyone sits. I eat my lunch surprisingly peacefully and head to the library for the remainder of lunch. I pull out a book and read until the bell rings, signally another class in this hell hole. Although it is better then being home. I gather my thins and head to my next class, art.

Art is one of the classes I actually enjoy. Not really any 'popular kids' because they think art is boring. My teacher, Mr. Lockwood, is pretty nice as well. He is my favorite teacher. "Hello, Brinley!" He greets me with a smile. "Hello, Mr. Lockwood," I reply. I take my seat. As usual, I'm the first one into class. I take out my sketch book and begin to practice drawing for our next project, which is a still life. After everyone walks in and the second bell sounds, we begin class. I plug in my headphones and turn on some music before continuing on my project. Mr. Lockwood glides around the room, glancing over our shoulders but he stops when gets to me. "Wow, that looks amazing, good work Brinley," he says leaning down and talking a closer look at my art work. I smile and nod in thanks. Sadly the bell eventually rings and I pack up and head to my next class.

Schools finally over, although it's not like I get to go home and have fun or anything like normal kids my age. I get to go home and get beat by my brother and my mom. I look around  at the scenery on my way home and grab some food, knowing I won't get any at home. Ha, home. What an unusual name to call somewhere you don't feel loved or safe. I walk inside and am relieved to see my mother isn't home. Most likely working late. My brother has football practice so he won't be home till late as well. I quickly do my chores, which consists of practically cleaning the entire house. When I get to my brothers room I find a used condom on the ground by his bed. Ew, I gag. I grab rubber gloves and pick it up and put it in a trash bag and continue cleaning. He has a new girl over every night. I hope he gets one pregnant. Maybe that will teach him to be responsible, wait... no I doubt that could ever happen.

I leave his room and head to mine. I quickly finish my homework just in time to head my name yelled from down stairs, "Brinley!" I shoot up and run down stairs. "Yes sir?" I ask my now home brother. I feel a blow to my face but I don't dare to cry out. "Look at me when I talk to you!" I state my apologies. "Do this."
He says while dropping a pile of papers in my arms. I nod and head up to my room. I do all of the work I was given. I quietly make my way to my brothers room where I creak the door open to find him asleep. I lay his work on his desk in a neat stack before creeping back out of his room. I make my way back to my room and turn on some music. I hear something hit my window. I make my way to it and part the curtains. I see a figure looking up to my window. I open my window with a bit of struggle and I look down to say something but the stranger is already gone. I push it aside as some prank and climb into bed and fall asleep.

Okay so I made this chapter to fill in some because I didn't like
