Chapter six
The guards had grabbed hold of Tyrain preventing him from fleeing, Captain Arul looked as though he were conflicted holding the future king against his will, he looked to Gwyn for direction, his eye desperate for orders. The tears were still rushing down her cheeks, she took a deep breath trying to steady her rushing mind. The guards held Tyrain's arms behind him keeping him immobile. She took a step forward towards him, Arul made a move to stop her but stop short at her hand pressed against his chest.
"Don't." she whispered in a voice that held no warmth. She kneeled down so that she was face to face with the stranger that she once knew as her brother. Taking his chin in her hand she forced his face up so that his eyes met hers.
"Why?" she asked quietly feeling the tears swim in her throat again, threatening to drown her in her grief. "Why?" Tyrain starred at her with a knowing smile. Quick as a flash her hand came across Tyrain's face. The sound of the slap hung in the air, and there was a stunned silence that perused.
"TELL ME!" she yelled her voice cracking. Tyrain looked at her, an ugly red mark glowed on his face.
"What was done, was done for the best, for our futures." He whispered cryptically. Gwyn's hands knotted themselves in the front of Tyrain's tunic grabbing hold of it and shaking him.
"What does that mean!" but he never answered, he laughed, and his laughter grew louder and louder until the guards were covering their ears and cringing in pain. An unseen force knocked Gwyn and the guards to the floor leaving them dazed. Gwyn tried to push herself up from the ground but found something holding her down, preventing her from moving.
"One day you will see Gwyn, just how much I've helped our kingdom." Tyrain whispered in her ear, and she felt his lips brush her cheek and then just like that he was gone, having disappeared into the darkness of the night leaving Gwyn completely and utterly alone.
