Chapter twelve *Gwyn*
Gwyn was finding herself hitting each and every wall imaginable as she talked from one person t another. She was met with leads that contradicted other, leads that dried up, or no leads at all; no one seemed to have any valid information about the twin bounty hunters that were supposed to be here and Gwyn was beginning to think that they had arrived too late and their quarry had already left. As she walked away from yet another bogus lead there was a shout that came from the far corner that had caught her attention. She looked over to seen a crowd had formed, men were standing together laughing and spilling their drinks all over one and other. Quickly she made her way over to the commotion having a strong feeling shed find something useful amongst the growing crowd. She worked her way through the tightly packed group and managed to push her way to the front. In the middle of the circle of people were two others, a girl and boy, obviously brother and sister by their similar looks, sitting on the table recanting a story that was met with much enthusiasm and interest. The girl was sitting on top of the able her feet propped up on the chair in front of her and her elbows sitting on her knees. She had Light brown hair that was a mess of curls and light colored eyes set in a smooth caramel colored face that was now rosy with drink. She held in her hand a large mostly empty mug of ale; tipping her head back she drained the last of its contents and the continued with her tale tossing the empty mug over her shoulder letting it clatter to the floor.
" 'nd there we were," her words slurred terribly as her tongue tripped over the words it tried to form. Her eyes tried to focus but slipped from one person to another shakily. "we were there, in the lair of the hugest and ugliest looking trader camp you had ever seen." The man next to her nodded his head in agreement before falling backwards onto the table his drink pouring over him entirely. "We had to get the leader, Forgan, and he not gunna be a easy catch mind you." She waggled her finger at one of the members in the audience and hiccupped. Gwyn watched in disgust, she would have never thought a woman could act as barbarically as this one did. A hand at her shoulder made her turn and Avian was there his face shocked.
"I take it that Brynn and Kagan?" she asked hoping that she had gotten it wrong. He nodded still in shock at the display before him. Brynn had stood up, shakily and was acting out a sword fighting balance nonexistent.
"Oh god." He groaned and then dove forward catching her just as she stumbled and sent herself tumbling over the table. He slung Brynn over his shoulder and Arul was there picking up Kagan and within a moment the whole group was back out the door of the tavern and headed towards the inn. They ordered a large room and paid quietly before taking the two drunks up the stairs leaving the inn keeper to stare after them in surprise. Arul and Avian dropped their luggage onto the bed before them. They moaned, their head lolling as they tried to figure out where they were.
"Whadaya want?" Kagan said trying to prop himself up, but ultimately falling back onto the bed and falling asleep almost immediately. Brynn seemed to be a little more sober or a little less drunk however you would like to look at it because she managed to sit up. Her eyes got huge when she saw Avian.
Avian is that you?" her voice was obnoxiously loud and her words were still slurred. Avian dropped to his knees before the bed so that they were eye to eye.
"Brynn," he said slowly trying not to confuse her any more then she already was. She didn't answer she was starring at Avian with a look of solid determination. She grabbed him by the collar of his tunic in an incredibly strong grip, despite her intoxicated state, and pulled him to her. She pressed her lips to his forcefully, kissing him hard, right there in front of everyone. Gwyn's jaw dropped in shock as she starred at this random girl lip locked with Avian. She felt a torrent of different emotions surge over her like a tsunami; what the hell was going on? Gwyn didn't know how should handle this, she felt anger well up in her chest, and sorrow fill her heart. There were so many conflicting emotions rushing about each feeling she had was either canceled out or magnified tenfold in a matter of moments. After a moment Brynn let go of Avian and fell backwards onto the bed next to her brother completely unconscious. Shock froze Avian's face as he turned to see Gwyn starring at him her expression horrified for only a moment before she quickly recomposed herself; relying on her etiquette training she reset her face in a calm expression of repose.
