While the King rules over all physical things such as land, people, crops, animals, and money, the Sages, otherwise known as Elders, reside over the Gods' domain. Our Sages interpret the signs we are given by the Gods. They interpret everyone's roles in the lives the Gods have given them. There's a ceremony called the Reading performed by the Sages. Today at high sun the Sages performed the Reading on two children; one was a little girl from another village with a brown cloth covering her hair and revealing her piercing green eyes. Her name was Rowan but most people called her Roe for short. Just a moment ago the Sages told Roe that to play her role in life she must find her love and be understanding about his past. The other child, a boy, is named Caiden. Caiden's ice blue eyes stared up at Elder Reichen from under the silver locks that shaded his eyes from the sun as the Elder explained the Reading process to Caiden. Placing his hands over Caiden, his fingers grasped at Caiden's head, pressing the boy's silver hair out of the way.
"Caiden, the Gods' will reveal your fate to you when you prove yourself to be trustworthy and caring to those who need it most." The villagers clapped. The Elder went on to tell Caiden more about the part he was chosen to play but they left out a huge part of his role. Caiden had been chosen by the Gods to go on a journey and end a battle that had lasted lifetimes. "Caiden, the Gods have given you this fate. Do you accept it?"
"I accept the path the Gods have given me."
