I watched as the light spread out over the sea. The waves came crashing into the rocky shoreline. I took a deep breath as the wind whizzed by causing the lighthouse tower to shake. These were the nights were it was difficult to  be so alone. I shut the lamp box and turned towards the stairs, when suddenly something caught my eye. I zipped around, long pieces of red hair slipping out from inside my hood. I scan the water, frowning when I see nothing. Just my imagination , I figure and with one last scan move to the stairs. Before getting to the second stair a loud crack echoes over the strong storm. I press my face to the glass and look out. My eyes help me to  put a visual image to the acute noise. I spot a small wooden rowboat crashed on the side of the jagged rocks. Who would be stupid enough to go boating tonight? I ask myself, but run down the spiral stairs. At the bottom sits a huge figure.
"Sirius." I call out and the figure stands up it's head reaching my belly. So I wasn't completely alone. My huge black and white bernese mountain dog Sirius was my best friend.  He whines and looks outside.
"I know, let's go check it out." I decide and zip up the zipper on my heavy rain jacket. I open the brass door, a gust of wind nearly causes me to be knocked off balance. I take a step forward and brace myself against the storm. Trudging through the darkness I make my way to the coastline rocks. In the faint light of my flashlight, I spot the ship wreckage. Sirius whines next to me and carefully makes his way down to the rocks. I shine the flashlight over the wreckage, The once nice boat is broken in half the wood breaking and drifting off. Sirius looks up at me and barks. I pause and watch as he nudges a blue tarp on the boat. My heart quickens as I look closer and make out lump underneath the tarp. I crawl down to the tarp and take a deep breath before lifting it up. I gasp and almost fall back. Because underneath the tarp laid a body, a human body.
