The horses were all done for the night and the truck was packed. We were just having dinner before I was going to go to bed since we needed to get up at 5 am and leave by 6 am. It was going to take 3 days at the least to get there.
"So is everything ready for tomorrow Ashleigh?" My mum asked
"Yup everything is ready"
----
I was up and awake at 5am and going to feed the horses. When I got there the horses were already eating their breakfast and there covers had been changed and they all had their travelling boots on. I was a bit confused I thought everyone was still asleep.
I walked in the tack room when I saw Mason back he was facing towards the feed containers. I decided to walk up and hug him from behind.
He jumped forward and turned around quickly.
"Holy shit you scared the living shit out of me!"
"Sorry" I said laughing at the same time.
"Thanks for doing the horses mas"
"It's alright, they should be finish soon. You ready to leave?"
"Yup, I'll go wake mum, then we can load the horses and leave."
After waking mum up and she having her breakfast and morning coffee, we were ready to leave home.
By 5:50am the horses were all loaded up and we were all just getting in the truck before leaving. Tonight we would be staying at a race track 3/4 of the way.
"Who's on what day Ash?" My mum asked
I got the catalogue and had a look.
"On Monday Freddie has the 1.40m and and Dora has the Junior rider of the year. Tuesday Shiraz and Vicky have the Norwood cup and Vicky has the young rider. Wednesday Freddie has the 7y/o championship, Dora has 1.30m championship, Vicky has 1.50m championship and Lola has 1.60m championship. Thursday they all have 1.50m warm up class. Friday they have a day off. Saturday they all have 1.20m class. Then Sunday they all have the Olympic Cup."
"Okay so your very busy next week."
"Yes, yes indeed"
"We should get there Friday at the latest and on Saturday and Sunday just take the horses for a walk and trot around and maybe on Sunday give them a little jump"
----
After 10 hours of travelling already we had finally arrived at our first stop, the race course.
Once we pulled up and parked by the stables. Mason and I quickly put all the horses in the paddocks, where they would stay for a few hours while we got the stables ready for them tonight.
"Can you two please give the horses a bucket of water and hay in there stables" my mum asked
"Sure mum"
While we were doing what my mum had asked Mason asked me if I thought I could win the Olympic cup.
"To be honest I have no idea if I can win it, I'm 15 and have only been competing at this level for 12 months. I don't even know if I'm ready to compete in that class in front of everyone, I don't want to embarrass you or mum or John. I would love to win it but there is over 200 people competing in it and over half of them have been competing at this level for years and then there's me."
"Ashleigh you need to have more faith in yourself, no matter what you do out there your not going to embarrass me or even your mum and John, we all support you so much with what you want to do, all three of us know that you have what it takes to win it, those courses you rode at home were a lot more tougher than any Olympic cup classes that I have competed in. You have five amazing horses that try so hard for you"
