"Mr. Park, I'm happy to tell you the cancer has gone into remission." The doctor spoke to me with a smile spread across his face. My heart rose and it felt like the weight of the world was lifted off my shoulders.
I was discharged from the hospital that afternoon and went to celebrate with my friends at the local pub. We had a couple of drinks and talked to a few people before deciding to move the party to my house.
"Hyung I'm so happy that you're better!" Sehun jumped for joy as we walked back to my house. He's the youngest in our group, and he was the one who was effected the most when I told them about my illness since he's had a massive crush on my since we were in school.
Kyungsoo locked hands with his now fiancé Kai, and smiled at me. "We've missed you."
"How? You came to visit every single day. If anything you should be tired of me." I chuckled.
"But it was depressing seeing you in that state. Now we have the old Chanyeol back. We missed our happy virus." Kai finally spoke up.
We reached my door and they followed me in. We weren't necessarily intoxicated yet as they feared getting completely plastered would somehow cause my cancer to come back. We were all starving and our stomachs growled as we got settled into the living room.
"I'm making dinner." Kyungsoo stated walking into the kitchen, dragging Kai behind him. I missed his cooking and apparently he could tell as the scent of all of my favourite foods filled the air.
Sehun and I turned on the television and put on a movie to watch whilst we waited, but it soon became background noise as a conversation erupted.
"So hyung, when are you going to get a boyfriend?"
"When I know for sure I'm not dying. I don't want to waste somebody's time like that."
"But I thought you were better?"
His face dropped.
"Well it's in remission. It could come back Sehun."
"But you can't live in this big house all alone. Isn't it scary?"
"No not really. I am kind of worried though. What if somethings happens to me and no one knows? I would just sit here and rot away until someone found me."
"Don't talk like that. You'll be fine." Kai came back into the room and plopped on my couch with a beer in his hand.
"Aren't you helping Kyungsoo?"
"Nah he kicked me out because I kept putting eating the ingredients" he replied with a smug look on his face. We chucked at him and continued talking changing the subject to the wedding.
"So when's the date?"
"July 18th. " he smiled before taking a swig of the brew.
"FOOD!" Kyungsoo basically screeched out of nowhere and we all sprinted into the kitchen. The counters were covered in dishes and we all ate until we were about to pop.
After our feast, the boys were all either to tired or drunk to go to their homes so they stayed in my guest rooms, while I watched movies for a bit longer, having missed the comfort of my home.
I was busy watching Howells moving castle when I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my heart. I clutched my chest and spat out the soda I had been drinking. I tried to stand but my head was spinning causing me to collapse on the floor.
"Kai.." I tried to tell but it came out as a whisper.
"Kyungsoo.." I mustered all my strength and began clawing at the floor, pulling myself up the stairs.
"Sehun." I said a bit louder. The pain shifted to my lungs making it hard to breathe. My vision was blurring but I kept crawling. I'm not leaving them like this.
"Sehun!" I said louder.
I made it up the stairs and my arms were aching. My legs were numb and my nose was bleeding.
I forced myself into my hands and knees as I crawled to the nearest room and started coughing violently. I collapsed and rolled so I was facing the door. I used what I had left to open it slowly.
"Kai." Knowing he was a light sleeper I thought waking him up would be the easiest decision.
Nothing.
"Kai.." It came out louder
"Hmmm.." He stirred a bit but didn't wake up.
I felt my life draining from my body. But how? I thought I was okay. I thought I was going to live. I can't leave them. I need to wake him up.
I reluctantly took a deep painful breath and screamed.
"KAI!"
My vision went black
My body fell to the floor once again. My whole body ached and I felt my heart slowing as my last breaths became shallow and slow. I felt the vibrations for somebody jumping on the floor, but couldn't react.
"CHANYEOL. CHANYEOL WAKE UP. WAKE UP. STAY WITH ME."
I heard Kai screaming but he sounded so far away.
"WHAT HAPPENED?!"
"I DONT KNOW!"
"OH MY GOD CHANYEOL!"
My vision came back for just a second allowing me to see their pained faces staring at me, and a few tears sliding down Sehun's cheeks before the last bit of air escaped my lips, and my heart stopped completely.
