"So you're telling me that your parents just...gave you this mansion? As an attempt to make up to the way they treated you before?" I asked. "And while I was in the hospital you got also me a puppy? I love her already, by the way."
Alice shrugged her shoulders. "Pretty much. I started calling her Bailey, but you can change it if you like."
We were sitting in a fairly large office that was directly in between the two staircases. As always everything was white. Including the table and chairs; which took up almost all the room in the office. The only splash of color was the fish aquarium. It took up one of the walls and was filled with hundreds of gorgeous red guppies.
"I like Bailey just fine." As I said her name, she lifted up her spotted head and looked and me briefly before putting it back down again. "She even responds to it. Is she a purebred Dalmatian?"
Alice smiled, "She is. I also have just one for surprise for you." She handed me a folder. "You just might wanna stay sitting down for this one!" She laughed.
I looked at the folder that Alice had given me. Looking back up at her, she was all smiles and it looked like her face would break open at any second from all the smiling she was doing. I opened the folder. Inside was a very formal looking letter addressed to me. I read it very carefully and slowly. I was also aware of Alice's still smiling face boring into me so I read on. When I was done reading, I put the letter back in the folder; and then I couldn't help but start to cry. I used my good hand to wipe away my tears, but more and more continued to flow.
Alice pushed a box of tissued within my reach, which I gladly used. She then wrapped her arms around me and kissed my head, while I tried to get myself under control. "I had to find a way to repay you for all you've done for me. This was the best way for me to do it."
"H-how did you convice him to j-just give me his entire company. I'm now the new C.E.O." I murmured
"I told him about everything you did for me once they kicked me out. He said to call it an early wedding gift." Alice giggled.
I laughed. Alice let go of me. "I just can't believe I'm the new C.E.O. of Hiro's Best Pets. So much has changed so quickly."
"You can always change it you know. It is yours now."Alice reminded me
"No, I've always really liked your last name. Besides what I really wanna do right now is teach Bailey how to play fetch!"
At the mention of her name Bailey jumped up and started wagging her tail so fast it became a blur. Alice found a spare tennis ball and soon all three of us were running outside to play fetch with Bailey.
