Mankind is old; we have been around for hundreds of thousands of years. We have enhanced our knowledge of medicine and of healing; we have launched countless missions into space (but still have found nothing beyond our stars) and advanced our skill in the power of technology to the point of absurdity.
But there are things older than mankind. While the humans scrambled to get bigger and better, the master race has been watching over them, restlessly.
Dragons are creatures of myth and lore, gigantic lizards that have pillaged and burned man's earliest villages for as long as we can remember. Now not all dragons do the pillaging, (all of that ended around the same time World War IV did) most of them are sophisticated, educated members of this future's society. Or at least the ones who can fit inside a university are.
