'I've completely ruined my chances. I'm too foolish to handle something like this.'

Freddy sat on the stage, eyes wide and cast down. It was past six am, but long before the pizzeria opened at ten, so they had some time to kill.

And kill he wanted. Your brother, mostly. He'd run the bear out of the office and shut the two of you inside. All Freddy could do was glare into the camera, which at least freaked the boy out.

Bonnie sat beside him, a soft smile in his face. "You all right?"

"I'm an idiot."

Patting Freddy on the back, the bunny laughed a little. "No, you're not an idiot. I saw this coming years ago... you just felt like you had to make it known, right?"

Bonnie knew? What about the others? And how much did they know?

He went on. "I had an idea. Maybe we could convince the owner to give her a job here. As a night guard, I mean."

With a deadpan look, the bear eyed the bunny. "A blind night guard, Bonnie. Highly unlikely."

"You said it yourself she wasn't in any danger. Why not? I mean, her brother might have helped if you hadn't pissed him off...."

Freddy sighed. The bunny was right, of course, but he loathed that human so much... it was all he could do not to slaughter him.

'... no. She'd hate me forever if he were harmed. I must keep myself in check.'

"Perhaps. I sincerely doubt this will succeed."

"You never know," Bonnie replied, winking and walking away.

Was he planning something?

"... you've got to be kidding me. There's no way I'm letting you do this. You physically can't!"

"Then what am I supposed to do, wait until you get called in to cover again?"

"How about never go back there again?!"

Your brother was arguing with you again. The owner had called, completely out of the blue, offering his sister a job. A night guard job! A blind night guard, was this some kind of sick joke?!

You, on the other hand, were entirely ecstatic. An actual paying job at a place you loved to visit!

And here your brother was trying to crash your party. You understood his skepticism, but you knew you weren't in any danger. You tried to tell him this, but he only waved a hand dismissively. "What makes you think you'd be safe? You heard that phone call!"

"Because he told me I wasn't in any danger," you answered slowly.

He gave you a look you, of course, couldn't see. "Him? That fucking thing? No. This is too suspicious. Fuck this."

You felt your brain starting to run on its own. You were nineteen years old, who the hell was he to prevent you from getting a job?!

"So do you expect me to just sit patiently and basically useless all my life? I'm not going to be the burden that kills you, you know."

"You're not a burden. You know that. And we're waiting for yo-"

"He's not going to find anything! Fuck! There are so many people out there that can sing; I don't stand out, vision or not! I want to do something useful and if that means getting a normal job, then I'm going to fucking do it! I'll get a cab each night, even, since I know I can't rely on you to support me trying to help!"
