Once Bahja left, I realized that I fucked up. Bahja was right, she had never done anything or given me a reason not to trust or believe her. She wasn't sneaky, and she was always with me, home or at school. I laid back on the couch and stared at the ceiling. My mind was racing a mile a minute, I wanted my baby girl home, but I didn't know where she went.
I heard Aaliyah walk into the living room. "Of all the niggas out here Liyah, it had to be Cash?" I ran my hands across my face.
"Chres, I can't help who I love. I mean, wouldn't you want it to be a nigga you know rather than some random nigga?"
I turned to look at her, "I'd rather it be NO nigga. You're too young. I want you to get your education first. Not chasing after some nigga."
"What's the difference between me and Bee? She's only seventeen, I'm fifteen."
"When I met Bahja, she had a man, but we were just friends. I respected her relationship and when she needed someone to talk to, I was there. You're my sister, so of course I'm gonna be hard on you. Yeah, Bahja is my girl, but I'm just as hard on her. Education is number one, niggas come last. And for your info, Bee will be eighteen tomorrow so she's legal anyway." I stuck my tongue out at her.
We both shared a laugh. "Speaking of Bahja, where did she go?"
Chred sighed, "Liyah I don't even know. I done let that shit Cash said get to me and I flipped on her, accusing her of still fuckin with Larray."
She slapped me, "Really Chresanto? You let her fuckin go because of something that Cash said? You're such an asshole!"
I rubbed my cheek, "First off, hit me again, and I'm gonna knock ya ass out and swear again and I'm gonna rip your tongue out! You ain't grown!"
"Seriously Chres, call her! You know these damn streets ain't safe and yet you let her walk around at this time of night? You're a damn fool boy! Call her and make sure that she is safe. Speaking from a woman's point of view, she'll come around when she's ready."
"I can't believe I'm taking advice from my little sister." I laughed and shook my head.
"Don't forget, I'm a younger version of Mo'Nique August!" We both laughed and Liyah walked out the room.I picked up my phone and sent Bahja a text. She would answer a text from me before a phone call.
Chres: Bee
Bee:???
I couldn't help, but laugh at her stubbornness.
Chres: where you at?
Bee: why? You won't believe me anyway
I sucked my teeth.
Chres: Ma stop! I'm sorry, please where are you?
Bee: I'm safe, no worries, night Chres!
Chres: Bahja Paris Rodriguez! Stop playing with me you know damn well I don't sleep without lying next to you so tell me where you at!!
Bee: haha, betta get used to it.
I couldn't front,I was getting mad.
Chres: Ma, come on now damn! It's almost ten at night, these streets ain't safe and you know it, where you at so I can come get you with your stubborn ass!
Bee: same place you first ever saw me cry, you got 20 minutes to get here or I'm gone.
"CICI'S" I said out loud."
Chres: don't move, I'm comin"
I grabbed my keys and was out the door to go get my future wife. Fifteen minutes later, I pulled up to Cici's. I noticed Bahja sitting near the window staring out. I knew she saw me, but she went back to eating her pizza.
I climbed out the car and walked into Cici's straight to the booth where she was sitting. I sat there for a good five minutes and Bee didn't even so much as look at me.
"You told me to come get you for you to ignore me?" She continued to ignore me. "Bahja I'm sorry okay! I'm sorry. I don't believe anything that Cash said. I had a talk with Liyah, sad to say that girl is in love with him." I shook my head. "Damn, my sister done went and fell in love and my shawty is mad and don't wanna talk to me. Damn, can a nigga catch a break anywhere?"
Bahja looked up at me. "In all the time I've known you, have I ever given you a reason not to trust me or believe me? Ever?" I shook my head no. "So how do you think I feel when I'm trying to explain something to you and you're not listening? It feels like a slap in the face when you're telling me you don't believe me."
I sighed, "I know ma, and I'm sorry, I fucked up. The nigga got caught and tried to blow up your spot! I get it, and trust me and that nigga are gonna have a talk, but bae please come home."
She looked at me again, "If you're gonna constantly accuse me and not believe me then maybe we don't need to be together."
"Bahja chill man. Until you give me a reason not to trust or believe you, then your word is all I'm taking." She smiled and we leaned over the table and met each other half way for a kiss. "Come on ma, let's go home." I reached over and grabbed Bee's hand and together we walked out of the pizza parlor to head home.
