Smooth Talking - Jellal

Jellal Fernandez. That boy was trouble. Too many girls, not enough brain cells. It was bad enough that I saw him everyday at the guild, but he only made matters worse with his constant flirting and not so subtle references to things beyond the bedroom. From day one his constant pestering was a reminder, never to get involved with that boy. Or at least that was my intention.

We had just got back from a mission, which mostly consisted of me reminding him of how he almost got himself killed, and him turning everything I said into an inappropriate joke.

"I can't believe you let him get away!" I snapped at the sapphire haired charmer.

"Calm down sweetheart, I had it all under control"

"You call that under control? And don't call me sweetheart"

"Yes, besides you weren't much help, you spent half the time checking me out-"

"No I didn't! How could you even think that?! Oh I know because you're Jellal, the guy who gets all the girls, the guy who thinks he is better than everyone else. Well I'll tell you something, I'm not one of those girls"

"Oh believe me I know, but you still stare like them doll"

"No.I. Don't. And stop with the nicknames already or find one that's suitable"

"What? You don't like my pet names? What about honey , or darling or baby?"

"Don't even think about it. And your highness would suit just fine"

He was getting on my last nerve, and once or twice I had to stop him from falling over due to his daydreaming.

"You have to be more careful! You almost knocked that guy over" I snap at him, his five year old attitude was testing my patience.

"Sorry baby, I was just thinking about you"

"Yes what about it? I heard that it is a very interesting letter" I answer back to him, just as I see the guild doors come into view. Maybe Mirajane could help, I know that she wouldn't stand for any of this.

Most of the guild had gotten used to our bickering and did noting about it. Once we had finally gotten back to the guild hall, Mirajane had noticed my frustration and called me over to the bar. Jellal made his way over to the other table, and I couldn't tell whether I was sad or happy about it.

"Hey Y/N, Jella at it again?" Mira asked,

"Yeah, I really don't know that boy's problem. I've tried to be nice, but everything I say he has a witty remark for. I'm at my wits end."

"You know what you have to do..." she enquires, and of course I obviously have no idea.

"What?" I ask her, curious about her solution to my biggest problem.

"Give him a taste of his own medicine. Do to him what he's been doing to you and he'll soon see how annoying it is."

"I wouldn't say annoying-"

"But I though you wanted it to stop"

"I don't know" I say to her as my mind struggles to come up with a decision. Sure he could be a pain sometimes, but he was giving me attention and no one else. Surely  that meant something, right?
The occasional moments when our hands touched, the fact that I always caught him staring, and his constant need to talk to me like his life depended on it, were all obvious signs, obvious to all but me.

"You like him don't you?" She said excitedly.

"What?! No! Of course not... I mean I guess he is rather attractive and I suppose there are lots of girls out there who would want to be his girlfriend...but definitely not me...and he doesn't like me like that, I'm sure of it..it's only laughs and jokes, he's never serious-"
