I stared out the window as the landscape rushed by. I was on my way to the best dance school in the country. The school is 6 hours away from my house. The reason why I'm going to this dance school is because at my school (now my old school) bullies bullied me saying that I'm not good at anything so I want to prove to them and to myself that I can be good at something. I convinced my parents to let me go and they said finally said yes. I looked up how many new kids are coming this year. It said a lot of new kids were coming I know I won't be the only new kid. My bladder was about to explode and we were stuck in traffic. Now that's a bad feeling! "Mom can we stop. I need to pee," I said. "Hun. There is nothing for miles and we are stuck in traffic. Just hold it," Mom said. "But I can't!" I whined. "Sweetie, your 12 not 3," Mom said. I groan. I stare out the window trying to distract myself. Five more minutes later and I couldn't hold it anymore. "How much longer!" I cried. "Shh. It's only been five minutes. With this traffic we have about 30 more minutes until the next stop. "What!" I cried. "Can I pee on the side of the road?" I asked. Mom sighed. "Wait more and then we'll see," Mom said. I groan. I cross my pale legs and try to distract myself by thinking of unicorns. It doesn't help. "Hey look! There is a rest stop right there!" Mom said happily. "How did you not know that?" I asked. "Because it wasn't on the GPS," Mom said. "Mom! Hurry!" I yelled. "Be patient," Mom said. We walked to the restrooms and I was so happy to finally get to pee. It felt so good! An hour later we pulled up into a big parking lot. There was a huge building near the parking lot. There were signs with arrows showing us where to go. The signs led us to a large grassy area. There was a raised platform with a microphone on a stand. A woman stood at the microphone. I looked around and saw like 300 other people. Not including the parents! "So this is it," I said in awe. "Oh honey! I'm going to miss you so much!" Mom said. She was crying! Oh how embarrassed I was! "Mom! I'm going to miss you too. Seriously quiet down. You are embarrassing me!" I said in a quiet voice. "Oh I'm sorry hun," Mom said wiping her tears with the sleeve of her burgundy sweater. Five minutes later the woman at the microphone tapped the microphone. The sound of her tapping filled the area. "Hello everyone! Welcome to the best dance school in the country! My name is Elaine Kora. All of the students can refer to me as Ms. Elaine. I am the head coach! At the Dance school we will learn academics and dance! Everyone must work very hard! If you don't think you can work hard then go home. I believe in all of you!" The woman at the microphone said. She then directed everyone by last name into groups. There was a woman with a neon orange shirt at each cone where the groups were. When my group was all collected a girl who was wearing a neon orange shirt said, "Hello! I will be taking you on a tour! Collect all the information you can! Oh, and my name is Alexi."We walked into a big building. The room we walked into had nothing in it. We walked to the left where there was a door. Alexi opened the door and we all filed through. In that room was a kitchen and a big table with a lot of chairs. "This is the kitchen and dining room. You guys will be assigned a breakfast, lunch, and dinner time," Alexi said. On the other side of the room is a door. We walk through the door. A long hallway appears in front of us. "These are the dorms. She points to an elevator on the opposite side of the hallway. That is the elevator. The section with the blue buttons with the label boys on the top of it are the buttons to get to the boys dorms. The section with the pink buttons with the label girls on the top of it are the buttons to get to the girls dorms. The section with the silver buttons with the label staff. Girls are the even numbers. Boys are the odd numbers. Staff are the highest floors. This floor right here is the boys floor. You are allowed to be on the opposite's gender's floor. Each floor has a bathroom. Each bathroom has three stalls and three showers. First come. First serve. The bathroom is right here next to the entrance door. The doors lining the hallway are the dorms," Alexi said. We exited the room and went through the kitchen/dining room to the room with the doors. Alexi led us to the other side of the room where another door is. We went through that door. "This is the dance studio and classroom area. On the left side are the dance studios. On the right side are the classrooms. The elevator is down the hall at the end. The bathroom is next to the entrance on the right side," Alexi said. Then Alexi pulled at all of our dorm numbers and took us to ours. It took a while because we had to go drop off everyone before us at their dorms until we got to mine. When we got to mine my mom kissed me and hugged me goodbye. She was even crying. I would miss her too. I was trying hard not to cry. Mom left and I went inside my dorm. There was two bunk beds lined up against one wall. On the other wall there were dressers and each dresser had one chair at it so that u can use it as a desk as well as a dresser. Each dresser had a mirror above it. There was a girl on the top bunk of one of the bunk beds. She was on her phone. When I came in she looked up. "Hello!" she said. "Hi!" I said. "Whats your name? My name is Delilah," she said. "My name is Ila," I said. "Cool! Wanna be on the top bunk so that we could be on the same level?" Delilah asked. "Sure!" I said. I dumped my bag on the ground next to my bunk bed and climbed up the wooden ladder. "How old are you?" I asked. "12. You?" Delilah said. "I'm 12 too!" I said. Delilah's smile brightens up the room. "Yay!" she said. I smiled ear to ear. "Should we unpack?" I asked. "Yeah that's a good idea," Delilah said. We climbed down our ladders and right when we hit the ground a young girl came through the door. "Hi," she said shyly. She was so cute! She had short blonde hair that was pulled into two pigtails and sparkly blue eyes. "Hi. What's your name?" I said. "Millie. I'm 5," she said. "Aww!" Delilah said. She was quite independent for a 5 year old. She unpacked carefully and put everything in the dresser that we let her pick. She got the one 2nd closest to the door. I got the one 2nd furthest from the door so right next to Millie's and Delilah got the one furthest from the door which was actually up against different wall. It was up against the back wall. Delilah and I unpacked while chattering. Millie chose out of the two beds that were left the bed right under mine. When we were in the middle of unpacking a girl came in. She looked to be 15. She had brown hair that was curled and perfect make up on. She was pale skinned and her brown eyes shimmered. She was very beautiful. "Hello!" she said. "My name is Daphne. I'm 15," she said. "Cool! My name is Ila. I'm 12. This little girl over here's name is Millie. She is 5," I said. "Oh how cute!" Daphne said. "My name is Delilah. I'm 12," Delilah said. Daphne picked the only dresser left and started unpacking. We all chatted together even Millie. She was so cute! She chatted a lot of horses. She said that she really wanted one because she really loves them and thinks that they are very pretty. We finished unpacking and sat on the aqua colored rug on the floor. We all chatted. After a while a woman came in and gave us our schedules. We all read it out loud. I read Millie's. "Mine says 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM is stretch class. 9:05 AM to 10:05 AM is Social Studies class. 10:10 AM to 11:10 AM is Math class. 10:15 AM to 11:15 AM is Hip Hop. 11:20 AM to 12:20 PM is lyrical. 12:25 PM to 1:25 PM is English class. 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM is lunch. 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM is History class. 3:05 PM to 4:05 PM is ballet. 4:10 PM to 5:10 PM is strength class. 5:15 PM to 6:10 PM is whatever dance you want to practice and it could be different everyday. 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM is dinner," I said. Only Delilah and I could have some of the same academic classes as me because every one else was in a different grade. And Delilah did have one of the same academic class as me. It was Social Studies with Mr. Rani. We also had lyrical with Ms. Laylie together. And also dinner with Delilah. I had Hip Hop with Mr. Kany with Daphne. And I had ballet with Ms. Kaysene with Millie. I looked at the clock on the back wall of the dorm. "Its 7:25 PM," I said. "We should get going to dinner, Ila," Delilah said. "Yeah," I said. We headed down the elevator. We were at the 6th floor so we had to travel down the elevator quite a bit. We headed to the lunch room and sat at a table. There were about 50 other kids there. There was five tables. They were all on the left side of the room. The right side was the kitchen. Most people came in alone. They walked around talking to people trying to make friends. A girl came up to us. "Hello. How old are you guys?" she asked. "We are both 12," I said. "Great! I'm 12 too!" she said. "My name is Camille," she said. "Mine is Delilah," Delilah said. "Mine is Ila," I said. "Can I sit with you guys?" Camille asked. "Of course!" Delilah and I said in unison. Camille sits down next to us. "How many years of dance do you guys have? I know that you have to have at least one year of dancing experience to go here," Camille said. "I have 3 years of experience," I said. "Same!" Delilah said. "I have 2 and a half years of dancing experience," Camille said. We chatted and ate our dinner which was mac and cheese. When our dinner time was done we all headed to the elevator. We stepped on. "What floor are you on, Camille?" I asked. "8th," Camille answered. "Camille and I are on the 6th," Delilah said. "I pressed the button that had the number 6 on it. We wooshed up to floor 6 and Delilah and I said by to Camille and stepped off the elevator. We walked to our dorm room. We walked in. Millie was laying on her bed dressed in her PJs and her hair wet from a shower. She was flipping through a picture book. Daphne was on her bed criss cross apple sauce looking at her phone. Her dinner time was 9:00 PM to 9:30 PM. She got the latest time. Millie's was 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM. She got the earliest time. The times for the dinners are 6:30-7:00 7:00-7:30 7:30-8:00 8:00-8:30 8:30-9:00 9:00-9:30 PM. When we walked in she looked up. "Ugh! I hate this late dinner time! I can't get into my PJs and take off my makeup until late at night! And I'm starving!" Daphne complained. "We thought you would be hungry. Thats why we brought you a little food to hold you over," I said revealing the little bit of mac and cheese that I had put on a napkin and Delilah had gotten the fork. "Aww! Thanks so much girls!" Daphne said. She smiled brightly. I handed her the food and she ate it gratefully. "Hi Ila. He Delilah," Millie said putting her picture book down on the floor. She lay back down on her bed and stuck her thump in her mouth. She was so cute! "I'm tired," she said. "You want me to brush your hair and tuck you in?" I asked. "Yeah," Millie said tiredly. she sat up and turned her back so I can brush her hair. I grabbed her pink hair brush from her dresser. I started combing through her blonde hair. She was wearing pink PJs with horses on them. When there was not a knot in her hair I walked over to her dresser and set the brush down on her dresser. I walked back over to Millie. "Did you brush your teeth?" I asked. "Yeah," she said. "Do you need to go pee pee?" I asked. "No," she said. "Ok," I said. Millie got under her covers and I pulled the covers up to her chin. I then grabbed her horse stuffed animal and put it right next to her face. "I love you, Ila," she said. I smiled. This little girl loved me and I loved her back. "I love you too," I said.
