"Good afternoon, Miss May!" Said Mr. Brown. His wife and him had invited this woman to live with them to help Billy, Mr. Brown, write his second book. She was a known publisher and writer from Wisconsin a bush friend had introduced Ami to. They had secret hopes that one of their sons would fancy her.

"Hello, nice to see y'all again." Said May

"Come meet our family, then we will all load your things and be on our way." Said Ami, Mrs. Brown

When May stepped onto the pier and greeted Mr. And Mrs. Brown she had met them only once before. They had come to an agreement that May would stay with them until she finished writing the book for the brown family. She kept mostly quiet, it was enough to be the center of attention. May hated that.

Gabriel kept quiet on the boat home. He was skeptical about this woman but for some reason it was love at first sight. She was so quiet like him. Bigger, but he liked that she had meat on her bones. Her eyes of bright blue and gold made him melt. She looked his way more than once, he knew if he wanted her attention to be on him he would need to claim her soon. He'd make sure to be the one to take her on hikes in the woods.

Gabriel had her last bag. He was unusually quiet compared to the rest but May liked that.

"If you need anything, I'll be around. If you plan on going into the woods, you'll need to bring someone with. I'd be glad to guide you."
"Thank you, Gabriel. I will look forward to that." May said as she turned around to look at him.
"Haven't had anyone sense my mother call me Gabriel." Gabriel smiled

May smiled back and then he was gone. She lit her fire and unpacked her things. She was just about ready to start a dinner for herself when she heard a soft knock. It was Snowbird, the eldest daughter.

"Hi?"
"My parents would like you to come for dinner. They figure you could use a day of rest from traveling."
"That actually sounds nice. I'll be there shortly."
"Well, you should be careful at night, animals and such. I'll send Gabe back in awhile to get you seeing y'all be going to the woods together. Daddy says that's where couples fall in love."

May smiled and nodded. She found some fresh clothes and waited for Gabriel. She opened the door as he approched.

"Good evening Gabriel."
Gabriel smiled again "When you say that..."
She cut him off "Would you rather me call you Gabe?"
"I didn't mean to.."

Gabriel offered his elbow and May took it. They proceeded in silence. At dinner May made sure to talk to everyone. Gabriel was seated next to her, she liked that. May wanted to keep Gabriel at arms length because she knew she would be leaving and he would want a better looking woman than May.

Dinner was over and it was time that Gabriel walk May back to her small cabin.
"Thank you all for your hospitality here and for the beautiful cabin to live while I'm here! I'm grateful." May said before leaving

All was silent until Gabriel spoke.
"Miss May? I am sorry if I made to much of you using my given name."
"Miss May...I like that Gabriel. Maybe we can keep the pet names?"
Gabriel smiled. "I'd like that."
"Goodnight Gabriel. Until tomorrow." said May beaming
"Goodnight Miss May." Gabriel said and then kissed her cheek. It was a gester that shocked them both.
