Simple Love

May had thought hard about Gabriel last night because she couldn't sleep. She knew she liked him but as all things she knew and loved, they either went away or hated the way she looked. Her inner beauty was never enough.

"Good morning Gabriel." May smiled and him
"Mornin' Miss May." Gabriel kissed her cheek again, just like last night.
"Is kissing cheeks a thing of yours?" she paused. "I didn't mean it like that..." May said quickly not understanding.
Gabriel smiled "I steal kisses from women who allow it and your the first not to push me away. I'm sorry I ment to ask if it was alright."
"Its perfectly fine. More than fine." May responded staring into Gabriel's eyes.

Breaking their silence May says "uh...May I follow you today? I won't bother you. I'll just be observing and writing."

"Of course I don't mind. Glad to have someone so pretty watching me."

May looked down but smiled but Gabriel was left confused. Surly she knew how beautiful she was?

Taking May's hand Gabriel says "I know you feel it too. Maybe tomorrow we can take that walk?"
May met Gabriel's face, She could only nod. Then it happened he took her face in his palms and kissed her lips ever so softly.

"Don't doubt yourself May, you are so beautiful..." Gabriel said as he kissed her again.

May didn't know what to do, how can Gabriel be so sure that he likes May? May decided tomorrow during their walk she would address their feelings.

Gabriel was astonished at his effort towards May. He couldn't believe he had such bravery to do all that kissing but May seemed so reserved? So quiet? He couldn't wait to take the walk with her, mainly to get themselves on the same page.

"I think we better talk son" Said Gabriel's father, Billy
"About Miss May?" Gabriel smiled
"Yes. You know she'll only be here for a short time. If you love this girl your going to have to marry her. She's not going to stay forever."
"She's been here two days, lawd knows I care for her but I just don't know her yet."
"Your brothers say you've been stealing kisses?"
"A few cheeks."
"Hmmm. Well like I said don't take forever. She's not here to stay and keep in mind she may want you to leave with her..."

Gabriel's father walked off. Gabriel thought about that one. He was right. Could he live anywhere other than here?

Gabriel was chopping wood when he realized he was being watched. May sat siletly on a large log staring at him. He blushed red knowing this. He stopped chopping and walked over to her.

"Can I sit next to you?" Said Gabriel quietly.
"Of course." May said over eagerly, then blushed
"Do you like watching me?" Gabriel jokingly said
"Would you like me go so you can finish?"
"What. NO!"
May smiled "How about I help?
"I don't want you to get hurt."
"In Wisconsin we did this sort of thing all the time, it's easy work." May replied getting up.
"Ok."
"Common I'll stack the wood."

Now Gabriel watched as May simply fit right in and she was strong too! Able to take on even the larger pieces of wood. He knew right there he needed a ring.
