I just noticed how the last few chapters were a countdown it started at 5 at chapter 484, and now it's at 1 with chapter 489 and it'll be at 0 with chapter 490. The next chapter is important to say the least and there was also Fairy Tail Zero, the backstory to Master Mavis's past. And the next chapter will be zero right after Mavis is released, so I predict Mavis will confront Zeref definitely. Point in case, Mavis is important in this next chapter.

I also wanted to point out that the attack on Natsu and Lucy will not harm them, either because Natsu was powerful enough to block the blow to Lucy or because of Irene's new magic that 'reconstructed' everything, Magnolia is probably going to disappear and there is going to be Irene's idea of the 'new world'. I am assuming Fiore is going to be transformed into a new place, something similar to what Edolas is, just an entirely different place. Everything different.
