CHAPTER 2
"Hey!" a familiar voice called out to me as I walked pass a group of students in the outdoors commons area between the dormitory buildings, "Julie!"
I sucked in a breath between my front teeth and rolled my eyes as the unfortunately good looking, olive skinned boy stepped away from his friends
"What do you want Ahren?" I asked in a monotonous voice, trying my hardest not to show any emotions to my ex-boyfriend who clearly couldn't take a hint.
"I-I was wondering if you're going to Francesca's party on Friday," he said hesitantly, "It'd be pretty cool if you are."
"Oh save me the small talk Ren," I rolled my eyes at his act, we were on incredibly good terms considering that he cheated on me a year ago, "What do you really want Ahren? And don't try to lie to me, I know we both have better things to do with our time."
"What! I'm being serious," he insisted when I stopped and turned to face him, his thick eyebrows were drawn together intently, "The new guy is going to be there, he's pretty hot and just your type. I just find it a little strange that the school is accepting transfer student this semester."
Oh, yeah. Did I mention that he cheated on me with a guy? I probably should have considering how friendly I was with him. I honestly got over it in a day, he was my best friend before we dated and he would always be my best friend after the drama.
"And what is my type," I rose my brows with an amused smile, "Pray tell."
"Straight," he laughed loudly causing me to blush and punch him in the arm, "Ouch!"
"Shut up," bit at him trying to keep a straight face, "Don't you have a hockey player to shag?"
"Touché," he chuckled and draped his arm around my shoulder, "Touché"
"Ugh," I shook him off and continued walking ahead of him towards the double panel glass doors of the girls' dormitory building, "Go away."
"In your dreams princess," he sang from where he stood behind me as I opened the door and was hit by the heavenly air of the lounge area.
A fair amount of students—seeing as it was the lunch hour—were seated lazily in the various, chic black bean bag chairs reading. They didn't even spare a glance at me as I walked pass them towards the desk at the other side at the room. Mrs. Chance—the dorm mother—gave me a bright smile as I walked up to her desk situated at the wall near the base of the stairs.
"Hey Mrs. C," I greeted her warmly and tapped my fingers, "My parents sent my stuff this morning. Are they here yet?"
"Oh, yes sweetie!" she clapped her hands together softly as she remembered and an uncharacteristic smirk settled on her face, "They certainly did."
"Thanks?" I said uncertainly, giving her an odd look before making my way to the stairs.
"Oh! I just remembered," she called, "You can stay in this afternoon. Your Literature teacher isn't here but I sent the homework he left up with your luggage."
I groaned a thanks before making my way up the deserted staircase two at a time.
Homework my ass.
Fishing my room key out of my pocket walked down the cool corridor leisurely before I finally met my door. When I stuck the key in the lock and tried to open it, with much difficulty, the door quickly swung open and out of my grasp. I was about to let out a victory dance because that was the fastest I ever got the door open—I always had trouble opening doors—when I noticed an insanely handsome figure peering down at me with narrowed eyes.
