Chapter 1

It was a bright and sunny day in the land of Equestria, and in a schoolhouse in the town called Ponyville, the students were having a school play about the history of Equestria. "Fear, treachery, blood lust." A young unicorn named Twilight Sparkle said as she told the story. "Thousands of years ago, these were the forces that ruled our world. A world where ponies were at each other's throats. And ponies that were stronger than the weaker ponies had an uncontrolable, biological urge to maim and maul, and-." Then a young earth pony named Cheese Sandwich jumped out from a fake bush, and pretended to attack Twilight Sparkle who screamed, took out red scarfs, and used a ketchup bottle to make look like blood as she pretended to die, and said "Ahh! Blood, blood, blood! And...death." She then got up, wiped the ketchup off of herself, and said "Back then, Equestria was divided in two, strong ponies or weak ponies." Then a young pegasai pony named Fluttershy appeared on the stage as she said "But over time, we evolved and looked beyond our primitive ways." "Now all ponies live in harmony, and every young pony has multitudinous opportunities." Twilight Sparkle said. "Yeah." Fluttershy said as she put on an astronaut costume. "I don't have to cower in fear anymore. Instead, I can be an astronaut!"

"I don't have to be a lonely hunter anymore." Cheese Sandwich said as he put on a blue suit. "Today, I can hunt for tax exemptions. I'm going to be an actuary!" "And I can make Equestria a better place." Twilight Sparkle said as she put on a police officer uniform. "I'm going to be a police officer!" Her parents named Night Light and Twilight Velvet looked at their daughter in dismay as another young unicorn named Starbeam Glamour laughed, and said "A unicorn cop! That is the most stupidest thing I ever heard." "It may seem impossible to small minds." Twilight Sparkle said as she looked at Starbeam Glamour, and the set of the stage turned from the forest to the city called Manehatten. "I'm looking at you, Starbeam Glamour. But, just two hundred and eleven miles away stands the great city of Manehatten, where our ancestors first joined together in peace, and declared that anypony can be anything!" The audience clapped, and she said "Thank you, and good night!" Outside the schoolhouse, the Ponyville Day Festival was going on as everypony were enjoying the rides, playing games, and eating fair food. As Twilight Sparkle walked with her parents, Night Light said "Twilight, you ever wonder how your mom and I got to be so darn happy?"

Twilight Sparkle shook her head, and said "Nope!" "Well, we gave up on our dreams, and we settled." Night Light said. Right, Twilight Velvet?" "Oh, yes." Twilight Velvet said. "That's right, Night Light. We settled hard." "See? That's the beauty of complacency, Twilight." Night Light said. "If you don't try anything new, you'll never fail." "I like trying actually." Twilight Sparkle said. "What your father means, hun, is that it's gonna be difficult, impossible even for you to become a police officer." Twilight Velvet said. "Right!" Night Light said. "There's never been a unicorn cop." "No." Twilight Velvet said. "Unicorns don't do that." Night light said. "Never!" Twilight Velvet said. "Never." Night Light said. "Oh." Twilight Sparkle said. "Then I guess, I'll have to be the first one, because I'm gonna make Equestria a better place!" "Or, uh, heck you know, you wanna talk about making Equestria a better place?" Night Light asked. "No better way to do it than becoming a farmer." "Yes!" Twilight Velvet said. "Your dad, me, your brothers and sisters, we're changing Equestria." "Yeah." Night Light said. "One fruit and vegetable at a time." Twilight Velvet said. "Amen to that." Night Light said. "Being a farmer is a noble profession." Just then, Twilight Sparkle noticed Fluttershy, an earth pony named Bubble Berry, and a unicorn named Moon Dancer walking to the other side of the festival while being followed by Starbeam Glamour, and his earth pony friend named Svengallop.

As Twilight Sparkle walked away, her mother said "Mm-hm. Just putting the seeds in the ground." "And one with the soil, just getting covered in dirt." Night Light said. "You get it honey." Twilight Velvet said. "Yeah, but it's great to have dreams." Night Light nodded, and said "Yes, just as long as you don't believe in them too much." When they realized that their daughter walked away from them, Night Light said "Where'd the heck she go?" On the other side of the festival, Twilight Sparkle watch from behind a tree as Starbeam Glamour and Svengallop glared at Fluttershy, Bubble Berry, and Moon Dancer. "Give me your tickets right now, or I'm gonna kick your weak little pony butt!" Starbeam Glamour said as he pushed Fluttershy who said "Ow! Cut it out, Starbeam!" "Boo Hoo!" Starbeam Glamour said as he took the tickets away from Fluttershy by force. "What are you gonna do, cry?!" Twilight Sparkle then approached them, and said "Hey! You heard her, cut it out." "Nice costume, loser!" Starbeam Glamour said in a cruel tone. "What crazy world are you living in where you think a unicorn can be a cop?!" "Kindly return my friend's tickets." Twilight Sparkle said. "Come and get them!" Starbeam Glamour said. "But watch out, cause I'm a strong pony, and like you said in your dumb little stage play, us strong ponies used to destroy weak ponies! And our killer instinct's still in out duh-nuh."

"Uh, I'm pretty much sure it's pronounced DNA." Svengallop said. "Don't tell me what I know, Svengallop!" Starbeam Glamour said sharply. "You don't scare me, Starbeam!" Twilight Sparkle said. Starbeam Glamour roughly pushed Twilight Sparkle to the ground, and said "Scared now?!" Twilight Sparkle looked up at them in fear as she twitched her nose a little, and Svengallop said "Look at her nose twitch! She is scared!" "Cry little unicorn, cry!" Starbeam Glamour said. Then Twilight Sparkle kicked him in the face, and one of his teeth came out. He growled in anger as he said "Aww, you don't know when to quit, do you?" He then slapped her across the face, leaving a big bruise on her cheek in the process. He then pushed her face to the ground as he said "I want you to remember this moment, the next time you think you'll be anything more than just a stupid farming unicorn!" He and Svengallop then left with smirks on their faces. Fluttershy, Bubble Berry, and Moon Dancer ran up to Twilight Sparkle as Bubble Berry looked at the bruise, and said "That looks bad." "Are you ok?" Fluttershy asked. "Yeah, yeah, I'm okay." Twilight Sparkle said as she held up the tickets that she took from Starbeam Glamour when he wasn't looking with her magic. "Here you go." Fluttershy took the tickets, and said "Wow! You got our tickets!" "You're awesome, Twilight!" Bubble Berry said. "Yeah!" Fluttershy said. "That Starbeam Glamour doesn't know what he's talking about." Twilight Sparkle then got up, and placed her police officer hat on her head as she said "Well, he was right about one thing: I don't know when to quit!"
