Chapter 9

As Twilight Sparkle chased after Sky Stinger, she said "Stop! Stop in the name of the law!" "Catch me if you can, copper!" Sky Stinger said as he jumped over a pony police carriage. "Coming through!" Big Mac spoke into the walkie-talkie as he said "This is Officer Bic Mac, we got a 10-13!" Twilight Sparkle zoomed past him as she said "I got dibs! Officer Sparkle, I am in persuit! Woot woot!" As Sky Stinger approached the town square, he tossed the bag over the fence, and flew over it. Once he reached the other side, he grabbed the bag, and ran off. Using her magic, Twilight Sparkle teleported to the other side of the fence, and she spoted Sky Stinger as she said "You! Freeze!" Big Mac apporached the fence as he said "Hey! Meter mare! Wait for the real pony cops!" Twilight Sparkle ignored Big Mac as she chased Sky Stinger down the streets, and said "Stop!" Sky Stinger just laughed as he zoomed past the other ponies. Twilight Sparkle avoided bumping into them as she said "Oh! Sorry, coming through! Excuse me! Pardon!" She looked at Sky Stinger who said "So long, sucker!" Suddenly, he tripped and fell near the doughnut shop as he dropped the bag.

Twilight Sparkle ran towards Sky Stinger as she said "Hey! Stop right there!" "Have a doughnut, copper!" Sky Stinger said as he kicked the doughnut off the doughnut shop sign at Twilight Sparkle who dodged it. Not far away, a unicorn named Sunset Shimmer was walking out of a clothing store with her friends named Valley Glamour and Limestone Pie as she said "Oh my gosh, did you see those red and yellow-striped printed jegging?" Valley Glamour and Limestone Pie screamed when the doughnut was rolling towards them, and ran for their lives. Sunset Shimmer looked to her left, and screamed as Twilight Sparkle gasped. Sunset Shimmer covered her eyes in fear, but then opened them when she saw Twilight Sparkle who caught the doughnut with her magic. She smiled as she said "I love your mane." "Aw, thank you!" Sunset Shimmer said as she smiled back. Sky Stinger then got up, and took the bag as he said "Come to papa!" Suddenly, he gasped when Twilight Sparkle tied him up with the doughnut he caught. At the Manehatten Police Station, Braeburn was talking to an earth pony named Cheerliee who's Cherryloo's wife as he said "Okay. You're gonna have to be patient, and wait in line just like everypony else, Cheerliee, okay?"

Suddenly, the door swung open, and Sky Stinger was rolled in as everypony looked on in awe. Twilight Sparkle walked in with a triumphant smile on her face as she said "I caught the criminal!" Just then, Prince Artemis appeared on the balcony, and said "SPARKLE!" He glared at Twilight Sparkle as he pointed at the door to his office, and somepony whispered out "Uh-oh." Prince Artemis and Twilight Sparkle went into the office as Prince Artemis said "Abandoning your post, inciting a criminal, reckless endangerment to other ponies. But, to be fair, you did stop the master criminal from stealing two-dozen moldy onions." Twilight Sparkle looked inside the bag as she said "Mmm, hate to disagree with you sir, but those arent onions. Those are a crocus variety called mendicampum holicthius. They're a class c botanical, sir. Well I grew up in a family where plant husbandry was kind of a thing." "Shut your tiny mouth now!" Prince Artemis said in a snappy tone as he put the bag away. "Sir, I got the bad stallion. That's my job!" Twilight Sparkle said. "Your job is putting tickets on parked carriages!" Prince Artemis said. Just then, Braeburn spoke through the intercom as he said "Cheif, uh, Cheerliee's here to see to you again." Prince Artemis spoke on the intercom as he said "Not now." "Okay, I just didn't know if you wanted to take this time." Braeburn said as he spoke through the intercome. "She seems really upset." "NOT! NOW!" Prince Artemis said as he spoke through the intercom, and turned it off. "Sir, I don't wanna be a meter mare." Twilight Sparkle said. "I wanna be a real pony cop." "Do you think the mayor asked what I wanted when he assigned you to me?!" Prince Artemis asked in anger. "But, sir, if-!" Twilight Sparkle tried to say, but Prince Artemis interrupted her as he said "Life isn't some cartoon musical where you sing a little song, and your insipid dreams magically come true! So, LET. IT. GO!"
