Chapter 8

Later that night, Twilight Sparkle had returned to her apartment while feeling dejected. The dust erupted on the carpet due to her hooves covered in cement as she walked in. She then put her stuff on her desk, and sad down in her chair. She then turned on the radio, and cycled through the sad songs until she settled with just one. She then took out a container full of hay, and placed it in her microwave. She waited for the hay to cook as she looked on with a sad look on her face. When the cooking was done, she took the container out, opened it, and started to eat the hay. After she finished eating, she instantly heard her phone ring. She picked it up with her magic, and looked at the screen to see that her parents were calling her. She groaned in exasperation, and forced a smile as she answered the phone, and said "Oh, hey, it's my parents!" "Oh, there she is!" Twilight Velvet said. "Hi, sweetheart!" "Hey there, Twilight!" Night Light said. "How was your first day on the force?" "It was real great." Twilight Sparkle said. "Yeah?" Twilight Velvet asked. "Everything you ever hoped?" "Mm-hmm, absolutely, and more!" Twilight Sparkle said. "Everypony's so nice, and I feel like I'm really making a difference."

Night Light then noticed his daughter's meter maid uniform, and looked closer as he said "Wait a second. Holy Celestia, Twilight Velvet, look at that!" Twilight Velvet took a closer look at the uniform as she said "Oh my sweet heaven! Twilight, are you a meter mare?!" Twilght Sparkle covered her vest as she said "Oh, this...No! Oh, no. No, this is just a temporary thing!" "Oh, it's the safest job on the force!" Twilight Velvet said. "She's not a real pony cop!" Night Light said with delight. "Our prayers have been answered!" "Glorious day!" Twilight Velvet said happily. Night Light danced around as he said "Ho-ho! Meter mare, meter mare, meter mare, meter mare!" Twilight Sparkle got her father's attention as she said "Dad, dad, dad! You know what, it's been a really long day, and I should really-!" Her mother interrupted her as she said "That's right, you get some rest!" "Those meters aren't gonna mare themselves!" Night Light said. "Bye bye!" Twilight Velvet said as she ended the call. "Bye bye." Twilight Sparkle said dejectedly as she placed her phone on her desk, and sat back in her chair. Just then, she heard Record Scrape's voice say "Hey, Twilight, turn down that depressing music!" Twilight Sparkle quickly turned off her radio as Octavio Melody said "Leave the meter mare alone! Didn't you hear her conversation? She feels like a failure!" "Oh, shut up!" Record Scrape said. "You shut up!" Octavio Melody said. "You shut up!" Record Scrape said. "You shut up!" Octavio Melody said.

Twilight Sparkle groaned sadly, and muttered "Tomorrow's another day." "Yeah, but it might be worse!" Record Scrape said as he started arguing with his roomate again. The next morning, he was indeed right when Twilight Sparkle started doing her job again. She placed a ticket on a carriage as a stallion growled in anger, and said "I was thirty seconds over!" Twilight Sparkle then put a ticket on a tiny carriage as a breezie sarcastically said "Yeah, you're a real hero mare!" Twilight Sparkle then placed a ticket on another carriage as a filly stood next to her mother, and said "My mommy says she wishes you were dead." Her mother then pulled her daughter away as she walked. After Twilight Sparkle placed a ticket on a carriage, a griffin said "Uncool, pony! My tax dollars pay your salary!" Twilight Sparkle then sat in her carriage, and banged her head against the stirring wheel as she said "I am a real pony cop, I am a real pony cop, I am a real pony cop, I am a real pony cop-!" Just then, a pegasai pony named Sky Stinger zoomed past her while carrying a bag as a unicorn named Party Favor went up to her, and said "Hey, hey hey! You, unicorn!" "Sir, if you have a grievance, you may contest your citation in traffic court. "What are you talking about?!" Party Favor asked. "My shop! It was just robbed!" He pointed at Sky stinger as he said "Look, he's getting away! Well, are you a pony cop or not?!" Twilight Sparkle smiled as she ripped her vest off, and said "Oh! Yes, yes! Don't worry, sir! I got this!" She then ran off to catch Sky Stinger in hopes of proving herself to the other pony cops.
