"Turn your head just a little bit more towards the right." Maya instructed her best friend. The two were sitting in their favorite spot; the bay window. Maya had her sketching pencil comfortably in her right hand while her sketch pad was elevated by her knees. A smile spread across Riley's face, "Maya what is this for again?" Riley questioned in a relaxed manor. Maya's heart started racing. Maya just wanted to draw her beautiful best friend but she certainly couldn't just tell Riley that. She couldn't lie to her either. "Don't worry about that, Riles. Just keep still and I will be done soon." Maya replied keeping calm. Riley shrugged slightly and went along with it.
Maya went to work; her eyes would glance up at Riley every few seconds and her hand would dance across the paper with ease. A few moments had passed by and Riley was still in the same position making the same face until she felt the sudden urge to yawn. "Aaahhyah" Riley yawned out. "Riley! You have to be still!" Maya instructed. "I'm sorry! I can't just hold in a yawn!" Riley defended herself then returned her head back into its previous position.
Riley was fine for a few seconds until she spotted the cutest dog walking along the sidewalk lining the busy street. "Puppy!!" Riley shouted out as her arm immediately extended and her pointer finger was pointing at a fluffy Shih-Tzu. Maya looked to where she was pointing. "Aawhh!" Riley and Maya both said out loud, turning to each other and expressing their adoration for the small pup. "Okay puppy time is over. I really wanna finish this." Maya said sternly. Riley once again returned to her position. Everything was going well until Maya glanced up and saw Riley solemnly looking down towards her hands that were in her lap. "Riles? Everything okay?" Maya slowly asked putting her work face down. "Maya can I be honest with you?" Riley asked already knowing the answer. "Of course you can." Maya reassured reaching out and taking Riley's hand into her own. "Well the reason I keep getting distracted is because I feel really nervous." Riley admitted still looking towards the floor. Maya was staring intently at her beautiful best friend. "Nervous? How come?" Maya questioned truly not understanding why. Riley took a few moments to process her thoughts, "Well ya know... having you look at me for so long and putting down what I look like on paper makes me feel... self-conscious. I don't mean it in the bad way, I mean it in the way that you are so beautiful and when someone beautiful stares at me I get very nervous and-" before Riley could finish her thoughts Maya had scooted over right next to her. She grabbed Riley's chin and turned her face towards hers. "Riley you are beyond beautiful. You are my muse. I wanted to draw you because when else will I get the chance to draw an angel?" Maya replied realizing the words that just came out of her mouth. Her heart started racing and she was sure Riley would react in a shocked way. "Did you just call me an angel?" Riley asked sweetly. "Yes Riles but you are not just an angel... You're my angel." Maya said confidently. Riley's eyes lit up and her lips formed into a smile. Maya moved closer to Riley's face staring intently on her lips. "Can I please kiss you now?" Maya asked with desperation. Before Maya even heard a response Riley's lips crashed onto Maya's. Maya felt as if her heart was going to explode. It was beating so fast and she was sure Riley could hear it. Riley was a gentle kisser. Her lips were tender. Her lips tasted like if someone had captured all of the stars and put them into a lip balm. Maya couldn't get enough. Riley pulled away and just stared into her eyes. "Ya know how you wanted to draw an angel? Well, I think i just kissed one." Riley said as she stared deep into Maya's eyes. Maya melted. Maya had to be home soon but the way the light was coming in from the bay window and making Riley glow; she could stay here forever and never miss a thing.
