Frank watched me as I entered the room, moving as far from him as possible. Twilight hissed and growled at him which made him grin even more.
"My baby girl. Why it's been forever since I've seen you," his voice was as evil as ever.
I pretended to ignore him and walked up to Marco who was grimly watching our exchanging of glances.
"I shall be going to the docks to get a lock on my target," I had pulled enough courage to speak.
Marco nodded and dismissed me.Twilight danced in the air as we walked, swooping in circles and around me. Ash dragons were playing in the field. Cole... That's the dragon I was looking for. I spotted him away from the others. Twilight and I walked up to him. As we neared Twilight shifted to the size of Cole, 3 metres.
Not to hurt Cole, but incase he didn't quite like me and saw me as a snack.
The dragon sniffed me, my hair blowing with his breath.A growl ripped the silence. Something was wrong. I looked up at the sky...
Sin-eater Dragon.
Worse yet, it was a male of the second most rare dragon species, it was also fully grown, all 6.5 metres of it was highly dangerous. Cole flew to the rest of the Ash Dragons, with good reason. Even I was scared.
Twilight and I looked at each other.
With a slight nod I mounted her and we took off after the dragon. She let her flames loose and resized beneath me, now slightly smaller than the Sin-eater.
It was heading for the house. Oh burning shifters! Picking up speed we caught up to the dragon.Twilight shot an orb of wild fire at the dragon and it missed but caught it's attention.
Blare, you have to get off, call help, I'll take it into the clouds. Twilight spoke in my head.
OK, but please be careful. I answered and she shot down to the ground.
I dismounted in one sweeping motion before Twilight shot off into the air and passed the Sin-eater that followed after her.
I began running, not looking forward, but at my dragon who was facing death itself.
I hit a wall. A wall that wrapped arms around me to keep me from falling over?
I looked at the wall-person to see Frank.
The Sin-eater seemed to have disappeared as Twilight landed beside me."Nice dragon," Frank nodded.
I wasn't paying much attention, I was looking at the distance between Frank and I and up at the sky for the Sin-eater, I did not exactly feel like having my soul sucked out of my body.
I nodded, as I'd just caught Frank's comment on Twilight.Just then, I felt a shiver run down my spine, freezing me as it went.
I looked up, and over me stood the 6.5 metre beast.
"This is mine," Frank grinned and the dragon who cowered above me.
I felt the blood run from my face. Not only was this dragon dangerous! It was his!
I turned and backed up into Frank. He laughed darkly. According to my father's friends, a Sin-eater had killed him. Sin-eaters were the only dragon I had a fear of.
Frank's laugh rumbled as I need into him and his arms inclosed around me, only it felt different. His touch was light and said he didn't mean me harm.
That's new I thought to myself.
He whistled and the Sin-eater took off and he released me.
"Are you OK baby girl?" he asked kindly.
What the hell! What happened to him...I sidestepped anothe fallen log on the path. I was wondering through the forest on the houses' boundaries. I kept wondering why Frank had been so kind to me.
Twilight hovered slightly above me lighting the path with her fire.Sounds of a waterfall brought me from my thoughts...
I followed the sound til I came across it's source, a giant waterfall built into a rock face.
The purple twilight sky was reflected in the calm water, the full moon in its centre.
I looked at twilight before I took a step into the water, sending ripples across the surface, the water was surprisingly warm. I walked forward until I was completely submerged in the water. I swam to the rock in the moon's centre. Climbing up, twilight came and sat in my lap.
I looked at the waterfall. It was surprisingly calm around it.
I stared at it for a while not believing my eyes... The water was travelling up!
I shoved twilight off and dived into the water swimming for the fall... Wait wouldn't it be rise now... Water-rise?
I saw under it and it began picking me up. Twilight flew next to me. When I reached the top I was pushed into a small pool. The pool's floor was white and there were steps. I climbed out.
A bright light shone on a raised bit of rock.
"Hello," it spoke. The voice sounded familiar but I couldn't put a finger on it.
"Ahhh, hi?" what was one supposed to say to a light?
"Do not be afraid, I am here to help you," it seemed kind, and my heat and gut told me to trust it.
"Do not fear Frank, as he will protect you, and do not fear his Sin-eater either as he will guard your Twilight." he spoke quickly.
"OK, are you sure?" I questioned this even though he knew things I hadn't said to him.
"Yes, but now I must go. Good luck Fire Girl." and with that the light disappeared, and I felt I had lost something I had just found. After I had mounted Twilight we had flown straight home. The hallways were crowded and whispers echoed down the halls. I went in search of the problem and froze...
Blood, lots of it, surrounding a body that was ripped in shreds...******************************
