Running Detective [HIATUS]

Chapter 8

"Running Detective? What's that?" I asked, baffled.

"It's a secret organization formed by us. I'm the leader, Grasshopper." Jaesuk introduced.

"I'm Impala, the wise one." Suk Jin hyung wiggled his eyebrows.

"I'm the Cat." Ji Hyo smiled at me.

"For obvious reasons, Giraffe." Kwang Soo grinned.

"Husky. Pretty cool huh." Joong Ki chuckled.

"Hehhh.... Are all those code names?" I asked.

"Yes. You'll have to think of one too if you join." Jaesuk replied.

"Join? You're recruiting me?"

"Yes. But first, you have to know how we work." Jaesuk said seriously.

"We talk a lot about teamwork and trust. Everyone here are just like my family. So I'll not tolerate anyone from outside to bully or hurt them." His words spoke obvious warning.

"Okay. Seems legit to me. So is this a dangerous job?" I asked.

"A certain risk is there. Like what you have experienced the first time you met us." This time, it was Suk Jin hyung that said. I remembered the fight that made my ankle the way it is now. Still sore.

"Alright seems fair enough for me. I guess you guys are doing it for justice? Judging that everyone of you are hiding your identities from the public."

"He's sharp..." I heard Kwang Soo whispering to Joong Ki.

"I don't deny that Kwang Soo." I smiled or more towards smirk.

"You can hear me?" Shock was evident on his face.

"Yeah, my ears are sharp. And I can read lips too, ya'know." This new fact interested everyone.

"Read lips? How?" Ji Hyo asked, curious.

"I learnt it when I was young, just for fun though. But it was annoying since I could read what other people are saying from afar unintentionally."

"Wow. That's good." Suk Jin hyung praised.

"Thanks." I smiled.

"So, to explain more on what we do, the Running Detective does cases of wronged people seeking justice and unsolved cases of mystery and murder. Both small and big. From the school to the dark society out there." Jaesuk continued explaining.

"I can see the danger in there. But it looks and sounds fun. I'm in. You can call me Tiger." I smiled and held up a hand.

"... Welcome. Tiger." Jaesuk grinned and shook my hand.

"It's a wonder we got along." I said, earning both laughs from him and myself. But something made my laughter stop immediately. Or rather someone.

"Gary, where's this place?" The all too familiar voice came from upstairs, the entrance.

"Just follow me..." I heard Gary sigh. And the next thing I knew, my blond brother and the Gary kid walked down the stairs and appeared in front of my eyes.

"Hyung?! Why are you here?!" My brother asked, shocked at my presence just as I was shocked at his appearance.

"Chakama, chakama..." I turned from my brother to Jaesuk.

"Don't you dare ask my brother to join." I hissed.

"I had that intention." He said with a straight face. I growled and grabbed his collar and pulled his face towards mine dangerously close, our nose almost touching. I look him dead in the eye, "It's too dangerous."

"Isn't it more dangerous if HaHa is exposed to our enemies as your brother?" He asked and I stopped.

"......" Silence.

"Ya! Can someone tell me what's going on? Gary? Hyung? Why are you face to face with Jaesuk hyung?" HaHa innocently asked but the both of us ignored him.

"Ya! Someone?!" He protested. Gary sighed and pulled him by the arm, "Dong Hoon ah, I'll explain it to you." He pulled him to the U shaped sofa and started explaining it to him.

"So? Would you rather have him exposed to danger out there or protected by us here?" Jaesuk asked.

"....... Here. I vowed to protect him." I slowly let go of Jaesuk's collar and lowered my head. Unconsciously, a single wet tear slide down my cheek. Without even realizing it, I turned and look over at my dongsaeng, who was at the sofa with Gary. Although he was smiling and nodding to whatever Gary was saying to him, I saw his clenched fists and obvious fake smile. He was listening to the exact same thing as me, I presume. After a few seconds, his knuckles were shaking slightly and his smile disappeared from his bubbly face. I clenched my own fists and bit my lower lip. This isn't suppose to happen! Dong Hoon is suppose to lead a normal and happy life!

"I see what you mean." I felt a hand on my shoulder. When I turned around, I saw the leader of the bunch looking at my visibly nervous brother.

"...... I have a question. I'm sure you didn't recruit Dong Hoon just because he's my brother. Perhaps...... You wanted him to be the scientist of the group? Am I wrong?"

"No. You're absolutely correct." Everyone looked at me in surprise.

"Your intuition is spot on!" I heard Ji Hyo marveling.

"You're not wrong that Dong Hoon has special talent in science. But I hope that he won't be sent out for confrontation." I turned to face Jaesuk.

"Don't worry. Even if he's going out, I'll make sure to pair him up with you or Gary." He reassured me and I nodded as I turned to look at Gary, Jaesuk's brother.

"He's not quite a comforter eh?" I asked as Gary wasn't even attempting to calm HaHa down and keep on blabbering about something when HaHa was obviously and visibly nervous and thinking about something else.

"Hahaha! No arguments on that one!" I laughed with him before walking towards the two boys.

"Jong Kook hyung." Gary greeted.

"Dong Hoon ah, it's okay. I'm here..." I smiled at Gary before whispering words to my precious brother. I ruffled his head and smiled when he smiled a small smile.

"What did you do Gary??" Everyone gathered around the sofa as Ji Hyo jokingly accused Gary of bullying HaHa.

"Huh? I did nothing! I just explained to HaHa about our operations and what we do!" Gary defended himself by waving his arms in front of himself.

"Yeah yeah hyung, stop defending yourself. We know what you did, trying to scare our poor newly recruited member away?" Kwang Soo waved his hand absentmindedly.

"Ya!" Gary sent a flying kick towards the Giraffe.

"Hahahahaha.....!!" The room silenced as the musically ringing laughter came from the once nervous boy.

Hello!! I'm back! Thank you for all your support!! Imma embarrassed with my own story after reading it. It sounds so weird!! :( AND AND Gary left Running Man!! WTS. But okay, he wants to pursue his work in music and I respect that. But Running Man will look weird :( If I want to get inspiration then I'll have to watch old episodes :( Omg. Enough of sad faces.
