I stepped into the castle doorway, leaving the door open for the others.
Shopping for four people is exhausting. So exhausting I had to get coffee afterwards.
I set down the shopping bags I was carrying, letting out a heavy breath.
“This is where you live?” Kyle said in awe, looking up at the tall ceilings.
“Home sweet home.” I muttered, wondering where everyone was at.
Just as I was wondering Hazel came out into the room. She glanced over the four other vampires, and then looked at me in question.
“Our house guests.” I explained.
“Oh, okay.” She uttered, not even fazed.
“Where’s Drake?”
“Sleeping off his hangover still.” She smiled warmly. “I’m going to make coffee for when he wakes up and get some ibuprofen for him as well.”
“Good idea. Make a full pot, will you? I need another pick-me-up.”
“Got it.” She nodded, walking off to the kitchen.
“Is that your personal slave?” Florence inquired of me in a simple manner.
“I don’t have any slaves. There’s no slaves. Guests. I have guests.” I responded.
She nodded and I couldn’t tell what she was thinking.
I glanced over as I saw movement from the corner of my eye. Corey was coming down the stairs, looking impeccably handsome in black jeans and a button-down black shirt with a dark pinstripe vest unbuttoned over it.
He eyed our guests skeptically as he came down the staircase and walked over to me.
“You’re gone all morning and you come back with four vampires.” He noted. “You’re incredible.” He added sarcastically.
“I…had to. It was either that or jail.” I asserted.
“And so your solution is to bring them home with you? Of course.” He rolled his eyes. “What’d they do?”
“They didn’t do anything. They just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
He arched an eyebrow, giving me a scathing look.
“You know for someone that’s a vampire you’re really inconsiderate to your own kind.” I affirmed.
“I’m inconsiderate to everyone.”
I shrugged. That much was true, I couldn’t argue.
“So, let me guess, they’re staying here. As your ‘friends’.” He said mockingly.
“Shut up. You ungrateful…person.”
“Good comeback.”
“Still the smartass.” I rolled my eyes.
Kyle spoke up. “Hey! I know you,” He said, looking at Corey. “-I’ve seen you on TV. You’re hers.” He gestured to me with a thumb pointed.
Corey looked at me and smirked impishly. “That I am.”
I smiled tightly. “Look, Corey, you’re famous.”
“What I always wanted.” He responded jokingly.
Drake stumbled down the stairs then, his pants unbuttoned and his shirt wrinkled.
“Whoa,” I laughed. “-dude, you’re a fucking disaster.”
Drake ran a hand through his sloppy mess of thick brown hair, his sleepy brown eyes barely open as he walked blindly forward. “Shut the fuck up.” He mumbled.
