Chapter 15:

In the end, I just decided to avoid the two boys as much as I could. Lucas was easier to avoid, even though we had the same schedule. Liam, on the other hand, was like a guard dog. He could smell something was wrong from a mile away.

The first few days were quite a success, but on the 4th day of avoiding Liam, he cornered me. I tried running in the opposite direction once I heard him calling my name. I thought I was getting away until I ran into a dead it.

Darn it.

"Hey! I haven't seen you in days! What have you been doing?" Liam greeted, taking a step towards me, not actually out of breath.

I, on the other hand, was a lovely mess of sweat and pants in front of him, and I'm more than pissed.

"I've been busy." I answered evasively, my hold on my books tightening.

I breathed in and out, trying to control my emotions. My anger was still there and I was ready to pop out some karate moves to prove it. I tried keeping my poker face on.

Liam's grin fell almost immediately. He took a step back as he tried to assess the situation. "Okay, you sound mad. Are you mad?"

I glared at him, making his hands raise up in surrender. "Whoa, you are mad. Can you enlighten me on what I may or may not have did?"

I took a menacing step towards him, careful not to let my emotions display on my face, "Don't ..." I said, taking one step at a time.

"You..." another step, "have anything better to do with your life? I never betrayed you. I always trusted you, even with my life and now, this is what I get?"

His eyebrows scrunched in confusion, "What did I do?"

"I have to repeat. I am no one's. I am my own person if you keep forgetting that. Try to get that through your thick skull."

"What? What are you talking about, Aurelia?"

I glared at him, "Just remember, I am not just some prize that can be won."

With that, I turned on my heel and left Liam in a blubbering mess behind me.

Lucas' POV

I wrapped an arm around a blonde girl beside me. I think her name was Stacy?

I took a long drag from the cigarette. I gave it to the blonde beside me which she politely declined. I shrugged, "Suit yourself."

She then buried her face in my shoulder, apparently trying to appear seductive. We were currently in a secluded part of the school's field. Along with a few other people, we were currently skipping class.

I could hear footsteps approaching us from behind. I figured it was another football player, but apparently, I was hugely mistaken. Well, he was in fact the school's quarterback, but I wasn't going to give him his satisfaction.

I was abruptly turned around and was punched in the jaw. The impact made me land on the ground as several of the girls screamed bloody murder. On the other hand, the other guys were shocked, seeing it was their beloved school quarterback causing all the ruckus.

Everyone scrambled away from the scene, leaving me and lover boy alone.

"What was that for?" I hissed, trying to hold my aching jaw.

"I do hope your happy." He growled, "Why did you tell her? Can't help losing can you, Carter?"

I rolled my eyes at him, "You're talking in riddles, Kells. Tell me what your problem with me is and then I can enlighten you."

"You told Aurelia, that's what!"

This time, I scrunched my eyebrows at him, "I didn't tell her anything. To restore your man pride, I haven't seen her in days. Not that I'm counting."

"Then explain how does she know about the deal?" He glared, "Seeing we're the only ones who know."

I threw my hands above my head, laughing incredulously, "How am I supposed to know? What am I, psychic?"

"Well, for some reason, she knows, and she bit my head off for it."

"You just don't want trouble in paradise, do you Kells? That's why you go on and blame me for things I have no idea about. Well, newsflash, my life doesn't revolve around the two of you numbskulls."

I shrugged, moving towards him a bit before punching him on his nose. "Ooph!" He said, stopping the blood flowing, "What was that for?"

"Payback, son."

"I think chu broke my snoz!" He growled, prepared to launch at me.

"Well," I said, picking up my fallen jacket before shrugging it on, "That's what you get for bruising this pretty face."

With that, I walked away from him and towards the cafeteria. Planning to charm the pants off the sixty year old lunch lady for some ice.

Attractive.
