Chapter 12:

"He did what?!" Marina screeched.

We were currently at a costume shop, looking for what we were going to wear at the upcoming Halloween Ball. I was originally dead set against going but Pamela and Marina threatened to hide my stash of peanut butter. So here I am.

"He just brought me to the next town. No big deal." I mumbled under my breath.

"No big deal?! No big deal?!" I covered my ears as I flinched at her loud noise,"He has that bad boy aura! He doesn't bring girls to his old town just because it was no big deal. He is into you." She said rather smugly.

I said nothing as I glared at her. I tried to search the racks for a decent costume to wear. I scrunched my face in disgust as I looked at one costume from another, they were more daring than the others. Is this what they make these days?

Marina screeched again. I flinched before sighing. "I have the perfect costume." She gushed as she practically ran into one of the stalls.

I rolled my eyes at her before looking over to Pamela. "What about this?" She asked raising a tunic.

"It's nice." I said, "you should try it on."

She nodded before following Marina's lead into one of the unoccupied stalls. I decided to wait on one of the seats since I practically didn't like any of the selections here.

Finally, Marina emerged wearing an angel costume. She looked amazing. The bodice of the dress was hugging he figure, somewhat like a corset. On the other hand, the skirt was flowing freely down to her feet, with tiny beads embroidered into it. She was wearing a pair of white wings and a gold halo sat on top of her head.

"You look amazing." I gushed.

She beamed at me, "You think so?"

"I know so. " I said, "you are really going to sweep Daniel off his feet." I grinned at her.

"Are you done, Pamela?" Marina shouted.

"Just a minute." I heard a muffled voice from the stall and a few shuffling noises before the door swung open.

Pamela was wearing a simple white tunic with a gold belt, emphasizing her waist. She had on a few golden bracelet adorning her arms and a golden circlet placed on her head. It complimented her bronze skin quite nicely.

"Well?" She asked us as we were gawking at her.

"We are going to look amazing at the ball!" Marina gushed, "Where's your costume?" She asked me, narrowing her eyes.

I shrugged, " I couldn't find anything."

She then grabbed me by my wrist as she looked around the shop. She raised a few costumes which I shook my head at. She then moved to the farther back of the shop which looked untouched for quite a while now. "Try this on." She handed me a big fluff of white material.

She pushed me towards one of the stalls. I locked the door behind me and stripped off my jeans and shirt. I slowly wore the white dress and the white and gold headdress.

I looked at my reflection in the mirror. I admit, I was taken aback by this costume. The dress was held by small spaghetti straps and the top of the dress was a sweetheart neckline. The bodice up to my knees weren't exactly too fitted but it flowed down perfectly in small cascading waves. It was nearly covered entirely out of small iridescent glitters and tiny gold beads, making a few intricate designs. Another or the detailing were long fringes from the neckline.

My headdress is something made almost entirely out of gold material, with small rhinestones. It was finished off by two feathers.

It was something out of a 1920's movie. "Come out!" Marina said, "we want to see."

I opened the door and I heard Marina and Pamela gasp. "You need to buy that." Pamela gushed as Marina was practically speechless.

"We're all wearing white." I pointed out, giggling.

"We all look amazing." Marina said, pointedly.

We all went back into the stalls to change out of the costumes. We paid for each of it and excitedly went out of the shop.

We decided to go into the food court to grab some food. Once we were seated comfortably into one of the booths, Marina asked, "Who are you going with, Aurelia?"

"Nobody. No one asked me." I said twirling the straw of the drink. She raised an eyebrow at me.

"No one asked you? Not even Liam?"

I felt my cheeks burn. "No."

"What happened between you two?" Pamela asked.

I sighed. "I don't even know. He refuses to talk to me."

"Do you think this is about Lucas?"

"If you're implying that he's jealous, that's not even possible." I mumbled.

"You never know." Marina said.

Liam started avoiding me like I'm the plague a few days ago. He refuses to talk to me, I don't even know why. Every Time I try to talk to him, he just gives me one word answers.

I sighed trying to remove that thought from my mind.

After eating our food, we decided to part ways and call it a day.
