It had been a mere day and a half since Micaiah was taken. She didn't know this, but I called her my Guiding Light, occasionally.
I was a little boy.
Scared.
Alone.
When she found me, I was different.
Strong.
Courageous.
And I actually had a soul.
With her gone, I reverted.
Scared.
Alone.
Though I had made up my mind, I often found myself at a loss.
That woman really could work miracles.
I sat on the side of the busy Nevassa road, my face is my hands, my stomach growling.
I couldn't even think of the incoming people.
Nor my hunger.
Nor the fact that I looked like a thief.
Sothe still hadn't rushed to the orphanage to seek out the help from the lady running it or those little thieves.
"Kid?" A vendor saw the little, staving boy on the road,"you still breathin'?"
Sothe shook his head.
"No..." He responded.
"Kid, 'ave this apple. It'll keep your head up."
Sothe gave a light smile to the vendor.
"You're too kind..."
He took a bite.
It was juicy to say the least but not like the succulent apples Micaiah would always figure to steal.
Micaiah.
The thought of her never left his brain.
Micaiah.
I can't stand life without you Micaiah.
I don't care if they call you a Mary Sue.
Just because you're the maiden of miracles around here doesn't mean you're full of yourself like all the other "well known" people.
You're just Micaiah.
Nothing will change about you.
You always want the best if others.
Not caring for yourself.
I bet you would sacrifice yourself just to save this wretched country, even if Ashnard is king.
That's your downfall, Micaiah.
You shouldn't have saved me.
I could be with you.
We could be together.
Then I'm assured that you're okay.
Until our execution.
I wouldn't let you out of my sight.
No matter how hard they try and keep us apart.
I always find a way.
I'll find a way this time too.
Does this idiotic nation think they can separate us?
I'll find you Micaiah.
Till my last breath if I must.
I'll find you.
Just hang on.
I won't let you die.
I love you.
Back to reality, I came forth.
As if on whim, Sothe stood up, full of more energy and determination than ever before.
"I'm coming!"
He ran towards the orphanage. We would find a way. Daein can handle great warriors, but can they handle little kids?Micaiah
I let Sothe live so I could die. Nothing puts me at peace more than his safety. I know he hates me for doing this. He rather our deaths be together but I just can't.
I can't.
I can't.
I can't!
Sothe...
I love you...
You gotta trust me...
He can't hear me...
I'm crazy...
This is futile...
I hope he forgets...
But will he...?
Yes.
He will.
I'm sure.
But am I really...?
No...
Yes...
No...
I looked around my dank cell. It was dark. No bathroom, no bed.
Just solid concrete walls and bars that kept me from the rest of the god forsaken world.
The guards didn't know anything save for open, close, lock, sleep, eat, kill, execute or torture.
Is Daein this inhumane?
Apparently so.
I hate Daein.
But it's my home...
I love Daein...
Micaiah! Shut up! Your stupid feels don't matter anymore! Your own mind is starting not to give a damn!
Micaiah only saw one thing she could do.
Cry.
Let all the tears out.
Sothe, I'll miss you.
Live for me.
Forget me.
No.
Never forget me...
No.
Always forget...
No.
Never think of me...
No.
Always remember me...
I love you so much...
I can't manage anymore...
Goodbye...
Sothe (again)Sothe made his way to the orphanage. The lady was at a front desk there.
She seemed overjoyed to see me, immediately bringing me back to see the others.
A few waved, the more violent snarled.
The blue haired, modern Aladdin, seemed to be the leader of this bunch.
"Yes?" The smug boy asked.
"You know my female companion?"
"What about her?"
"She's in jail."
"Pfft, so you guys finally got caught?"
"Yeah," I rolled my eyes,"would you be so kind as to aid me in saving her?"
"What do we get?"
"If we prove our strength, the Daein's will be too scared to come after us!" I proclaimed.
"I like your thinking...name's Pelleas."
"I'm Sothe."
"Let's go!"Micaiah
After dark, Micaiah fell asleep.
"Her execution is tomorrow," a guard giggled,"Daein won't be plagued by her any longer."
