Darlyn's POV:
Waking up the next morning you can feel the awkwardness in the air. Though we had said our apologies last night everything was yet so soon to deal with again. We both barely slept last night after all the chaos. We are both quiet as we got up, sat, and rode in the back of our cab for an early morning brunch at a local restaurant. We held each other's hand but our eyes wouldn't meet each others like most of the time. I look at our fingers laced with each other and inside of my heart I was crying dazed and confused.
Liam my poor Liam the thought of him pouring one drink after the other took over my thoughts, breaking me. Was he really that worried? Yes you idiot he was and I shake the voice inside my head as I stare out my door window. I can feel my guilt taking over me slowly. I know he looks over to me the whole ride and I know he is frowning but I can't bare to look up at him. We finally reach the restaurant as we both climb out and they take us over to our table.
Its in the corner outside yet its quite private and quaint. We weren't the only guests inside there were other couples around but far enough from us to make us feel like we were the only ones there. As you can see this made my guilt ten times worse. All of the sudden it felt like there was this distance between us. The waitress comes in and takes pity on us as she noticed we spoke English.
"Hello welcome may I get you started with something to drink?" she breaks the silence between the both of us bringing our eyes to meet each other for the first time since last night.
" Wine would be fine for now, thank you" Liam answers and his voice is low and his face is deemed.
"Okay well I'll get that started for you sir. Would you like for me to wait a few minutes while you decide?" she looks over at Liam totally flirting with him ignoring the fact that I am there sitting as well. But he is too out of it to notice but I definitely noticed.
"No.. unless your not ready to?" he asks me with a stern look in his face bringing the attention towards me.
"I'm not that hungry but I'll just have whatever your having" my answer is short and straight.
"Okay" the giddy waitress takes our order and walks away joyful like she made a landslide of herself. You can feel the air is tense and is as cloudy as the gray air in France this afternoon. But I decide to break off the silence I can't stand being like this any longer.
"Liam" I straighten myself in my chair trying to gather myself before I start the conversation in the wrong foot.
"Yea" he says but keeps playing with the silverware in front of him not looking over at me. Why?
" I'm sorry" but he doesn't say anything he just keeps playing with the silverware and I reach my hand out across the table to make him stop.
"Please we need to talk" and the words break his gaze and now his darkened brown eyes are meeting mine. His eyes are darker than usual, and his smile is gone just pressed in a thin line. So unlike my Liam or the one that I used to know.
"Yesterday, I left.."
"It was all my fault I should have run after you faster and I didn't" he cuts me off running his hand over his face distressed.
"No. I should have waited I should have let you explained and I didn't"
"But I can" he removes his hand running his fingers over his hair..
"Will you?" and suddenly we are interrupted by our waitress placing each of our order in front of us.
"Anything else I can do for you?" she ask Liam and never once looks at me.
"No that would be all" he answers without paying any attention to her not breaking his look from mine. And inside a small laugh falls from inside me and I fall backwards on my back in gratitude as our waitress walks away with a confused look in her face.
"Your not planning to even have a bite of your meal?" he says pointing his fork in my direction. Which I haven't clearly touched in minutes since it arrived I just stare at it as it stares back at me.
"I am.. but I want you to just talk to me first"
"I am aren't I?" and I know he istrying to change the subject of our conversation.
"Liam, I'm serious why don't you just talk to me." I snap rather than plead.
"Later" changing the subject again as he takes a bite of his food.
"Why later? Why am I the one that always have to drag things out of you? It shouldn't be like this. I want you to be open with me as much I am with you. You know I -" and suddenly I stop and he cups my hands in his with a confused look in his eyes. Why did I stop?
" I love you" I finally say but these words have never left my mouth so dryly. I mean them because I really do but when he leaves things that are left unsaid its hard to believe anything anymore.
"I don't know why or what you're hiding or if I'm not just enough anymore for you." and I break inside little by little.
"Wait.. no.. what the hell are you talking about? Babe" his eyes widened desperately lost at my words. His arms stretch across the table where his hand meets the outline of my jaw bringing my chin up.
"I love you. You are more than everything to me. If you weren't why would I have been so messed up last night. Searching through so many faces among every stranger that passed by."
"Then why won't you tell me what happened last night? Who was she?"
"Because, its all in the past and I don't want her I want you"
"Liam she is obviously not in your past if she has this much hold on you. You are more in her present than ever, and you are my present and future. I need to know where we are at. And if you can't tell me know then we are in worst place than I could have ever thought." I speak my heart out and I feel a whole lot better as I clasp his hands in mine.
"I love you but if you don't start talking your giving me not other choice but walking" as I give him an ultimatum and my heart shattering inside into billion of pieces as I feel tears clogging up my eyes.
"NO!" he snaps "No I'll tell you everything" and the color drains from his face and his eyes full of anxiety and afraid. His face changes slight in color but he finally gives in.
