Chapter 20: Lies
“You know, it’s irrational having been hurt so bad, but I don’t know what in the skies of Azura is possessing me because I still fucking love you.” Despite his choice of words I knew behind that unlikely adjective was the intensity of how much he wants to convey it. It was romantic and heartwarming in its own specific way.

The faint sound of clattering forks and slicing knives was all that was heard in the vast dining area. The silence has been going on for the past three minutes and it’s been the longest three minutes of my entire life.
It all started when Queen Farra and Lady Louise started talking about how they met King Nicolae and Lord Borelli. Caleb then was forced to tell how he met Clarissa, which was actually in a hospital Spain where she’s an intern. I didn’t know how it got there but eventually, Reece was being forced to tell about how he met me.
He obviously didn’t want to answer because we weren’t in good terms but Troy kept on pounding it.
“I first saw her on our school’s roof top.” He said dryly, slicing his steak rather harshly like all his anger was concentrated to it.
“Oh that’s soo romantic.” Queen Farra spoke in her rich Russian accent. It’s the first time I heard her speak with accent for today. Lady Louise agreed and everyone followed, except me off course. I don’t see anything romantic in it.
“But, when and where did you first met?” Lady Louise’s question glued everyone’s curious gaze to Reece.
“At the hallway; third day of the freshmen year.” He spoke with utter annoyance. My eyes widened in confusion having no memory of this. Reece took their silence as cue to continue so he breathed in and pressed his lips. Oh no, I know this face. He's pissed again.
“I bumped into her and knocked her books on the floor. I picked them up, apologized and handed it back to her.” He said. His eyes glued on the glass window straight across the room.
And then, the memory hit me. “Ugh, seriously? Can’t you not look where you’re going?... What? What are you staring at? Get. Out. Of. My. Way… Ugh, nerds nowadays.” I face palmed myself. Lucy was torturing Therese with a torch light inside my head. Why did I have to be such a twat?
“Oh, I’m sure you both saw True Love on each other’s eyes that day as well. Right, Princess Lucy.” Lady Louise said but I was busy staring at my tenderloin in shock. “Lucy.” She repeated as she finally grained my attention. “Am I right Lucy?” She asked.
I nodded and started slicing my grilled tenderloin. Icicles are forming in the small space between Reece and I.
And then after two seconds of staring at me, he spoke. “True love is not real, unless it is returned.” His words were daggers plunging each of my coronary ventricles. I would take a stab from Caleb again if it promises me to never feel this way ever again.
12: 10 PM
The silence was deafening. Troy and Gold are starting to exchange horrified glances. It’s amazing how Reece can silence four heads of two kingdoms but I need to end this.
“True love will not be returned if a third person is involved.” I spoke as their forks stopped midway to look at me in horror. “So I broke up with Tyler to return it.” I lied. Yes it’s true for the fact that I broke up with Tyler but it wasn’t to return Reece’s love. Lucy was slapping Therese in the back of my head because had to I lied again.
