Abalone’s P.O.V

“So how’d the date go?” I asked Dawn as I settled in the hard-ish seat in Starbucks and mixed my coffee.

She smiled. “It went well. She’s a really nice girl.”

“Well duh! I wouldn’t be rooming with Jess if she weren’t.” I rolled my eyes.

Dawn laughed. “Can you tell me what you know about her? When did you guys met and all?” I looked off thinking.

“Hmm, I met her about three years ago. And I don’t know if I should tell you. She’s a pretty private person, you know.” Dawn pouted a bit. I frowned. “Fine, but if you tell her I said anything I’ll kick you in the shin!” I threatened. She laughed.

“Deal.”

“Alright, well, her parents died when she was seventeen so she had to go live with her aunt. She’s really tough, but nice at the same time. Like she would never hurt anyone and if she really cared about you she’d risk her life for you.” I said smiling.

“You really care for her, huh?” Damn asked taking a sip of coffee.

“Yeah, I’m pretty much all she’s got here. Her aunt lives in Vermont.” I said taking a drink myself.

“Oh.” She looked down.

I studied her for a moment. “How long are you staying here for?” I asked.

“Uh, I don’t know. Like dad knows I’m here, but I don’t know if they’ll let me stay here all summer.”

I nodded. “Well my parents are on the their way back here. Maybe mom will speak to Uncle Dave and Aunt Sue.” I smiled in encouragement. “You can even stay with me.” I winked. She laughed a bit.

“Right.” She shook her head. “So how are things with you romantically, sir?”

I frowned. “You know how they are.” I said looking off and drinking coffee.

She sighed. “You’re still fussing about that?” She sounded impatient.

“Yeah because it isn’t something I can forget.” I said miserably.

“Look Michelle-” I cringed when she said her name. “didn’t blame you. So don’t blame yourself.”

“How can I not blame myself? I killed her!”

Quinn’s P.O.V

“Woo! We’re almost home.” I said doing the running man along the small hall path in the tour bus.

Stark laughed as he recorded me. “I haven’t seen you this cheery in a while.” He said with a wink.

“I just can’t wait to see Abalone and Dawn’s in town and I haven’t seen her in so long. Dave told me he’d be stopping by with Sue. And maybe even Kevin would be here. Woop!” I said dancing again.

Stark rolled his eyes and lied back. “I miss my dad.” He said softly. I sat on the edge of the bed, rubbing his stomach.

“We’ll see him soon. There’s nothing to worry about.” I tried to comfort him. But I knew that it would never work. There were a lot of unanswered questions residing in our family and I wasn’t quite sure we all were on the same page. If anything we needed some time together away from the world to figure everything out. And I’m not just talking about the silly things…there were some dark secrets following our family and we needed to have them aired out.

“Brain’s coming to town with Blake soon.” Stark said as an after thought.

“I’ll call your dad. Maybe we can work something out.” I tried to sound hopeful.
