"Guysss! 5 pm na! Woohoo! Let's party!" A chinita woman exclaimed as she rose from her seat, stretching her body.
"Yosh! Tara guys, libre ni Chen lahat ng drinks at foods! Sa bar nila Kim tayo! ," Said another boyish woman with a short hair and teeth braces.
The chinita woman sighed in defeat. "Ok fine! My treat, basta akin lahat chicks sa bar ngayon because it is my frigging birthday! Woohoo!" she cheered again as she wore here satchel on her shoulder.
The chinita woman, Gretchen Ho, is having her birthday and she wants a small celebration with her friends which are also her business partners. They own an architectural firm which is still starting to make a name in the business world. She's an architect.
Her business partners/friends are; Vic, the one wearing braces and the civil engineer of the group. Jovz Gonzaga, a mechanical engineer and a master plumber. Jovee, an interior designer, not to mention the only guy in the group. Kim, well she's the electrical engineer and she's not really working in the firm, she just helped with the capital and she owns a bar. And lastly, Alyssa Valdez, an architect and is working as a part-time professor in her alma mater.
They all came from the same university where they knew each other and became best friends. They're all married except Gretchen.
"Ah... sorry Gretch, guys... mauna na ako ha? Nag-aantay na asawa ko sa bahay. Hehe. Kakauwi lang non galing medical mission sa Mindanao." Alyssa said as she grabbed her bag and fished the car key in her bag's pocket.
"What?! Hoi Baldo! Grabe ka, birthday ko ngayon. Pagbigyan mo naman ako please?" Gretchen said to Aly, pleading. "And oh! I called your wife already a while ago and asked for her permission. Pinayagan ka hoi."
"Really? Nah, I don't think so Gretch. You didn't call her, I know. At saka pagud yon, kaya ako muna magluluto para sa kanya. Hehe. Mauna na ko. See you on Monday, monkeys!" Alyssa was on her way out the office when all her friends grabbed and stopped her.
"Oy! Wait!" "Wait Baldo!" "Hep! No going home!" "WAIT!" They said in chorus as they rushed and blocked the door way to stop Alyssa.
"Miss mo lang asawa mo eh! Ikaw ha, wala ka na ngang time para sa aming mga friendships mo. Please? Kahit ngayon lang! At saka, kailan ka ba huling nalasing or uminom ha? College pa ata tayo noon eh. Sige na, please? Okay. I will call your wife, right now and ask her, ok ba? Give me your phone, Baldo." Gretchen said without a pause, holding her hand out for Aly's phone. She's friends with Aly's wife anyway.
Alyssa seemed cynical about Gretch's offer but she eventually gave her phone. She admits that she has not been spending quality times with her friends lately, especially when she got married. She missed those times in college but she loves her busy wife more, she would always think about that. Her friends would always tease her about how she's so head over heels about her wife. Yes, wife. Alyssa is a lesbian and so as her girl best friends. With all those teasing from her best friends, she would just smile and laugh about it. She just loves her wife more than anyone or anything in this world. And all her friends got used to that fact.
