Well this is what I like to call a sudden course in Hello! nice to meet you, you're a mermaid and have about 9 months to learn everything you ever need in the mermaid world. Oh and did I mention save it while you're at it? Surprisingly not the weirdest day of my life, that comes later on in the story.

When I wake up (or at least thought I did and wasn't dreaming) I expected to see Grammy and Clare, not a blue skinned mermaid. Okay maybe I should back up a little...
I felt funny, I was half asleep and my legs felt free. But not for the reason I thought, really unless you've experienced the transformation yourself you won't truly understand it. But I'll try my best to describe it. This feeling of pulling, tugging, extending, and freedom all at once went through me. I really wanted to swim like a dolphin and just swim forever, the breath I thought I needed to hold I really didn't. What felt like gills growing on the sides of my neck, though in feeling my neck there were none. Then I swam for a few minutes finding a civilization and decided to explore once I knew I wasn't dreaming and I was awake.
"Oh hello! I'm Neterina, haven't seen one of your kind in hundreds of years. Cool." Neterina says.
I just stare at her for a good few minutes my mouth hanging open from shock not only that I'm a mermaid as I see a tail, plus she's blue. At this point my mind feels like it's about to explode, I'm suddenly craving seafood, and really regret that second cup of coffee. I start to cry thinking of Gramps, and just want my sister and Grammy.
"Um, are you okay?" Neterina asks me.
"Oh.. Sorry yeah fine just why are you blue out of curiosity and is there any fish to eat by chance I'm starving." Just asking the worse question probably to ask a blue skinned person.
"The blue skin thing, that runs in my family. Your new to this world aren't you? Because you look like a newbie. But I could be wrong." And then we meet her sister Belinda who swims over hearing all of the noise.
"Belinda meet.... What is your name?" She asks realizing that I never introduced myself to her.
"I'm Ellie, and I have a sister too just at home." I say.
"Nice to meet you, why are you staring at me like that? It's kinda creepy." Then wanting to run off but probably ending hopelessly lost, as I have zero since of direction. Especially in the middle of the ocean with no memory of how I got here. So instead I decide it's better to stay with Belinda and Neterina, though I still don't exactly trust them. I'm taken by all of these gorgeous fish and corals and their living quarters are so beautiful, I don't mean to stare and look around for what doesn't feel like long enough, it just happens.
"I know it's beautiful but if we don't move soon, we'll get in trouble for not telling Mother Analise your here." Neterina says, "and me and Belinda are already on thin ice as it is. For reasons you'll understand once you understand being mermaid." Neterina begins looking around kind of nervously and switching the end of her tail.
"Agreed Neta, I don't wanna be on chamber cleaning duty again." Belinda says as she swims back slightly. "At least she can swim with us, since it's a rather long swim to Mother's chambers."
"Oh sorry totally didn't mean to space out on there, it's just all so beautiful. I'm still in shock of what all has happened." I say as I'm still looking around somewhat, then asking "Who's Mother Analise?"
"Mother Analise is our head of this pod of mermaids, she's what keeps us in check. Once you visit her, we can get you some food. First transformations are a little rough on your body physically." Neterina smiles and starts swimming away with Belinda motioning for me to follow.
