08 August 1994,

"Ever thought of what it would be like if we haven't met?" Harry asked the question came out of nowhere, startling Seraphina, his expectant eyes trained on her.

It was another one of those nights, where the two lay under the countless stars, silently enjoying each other's company in their little hideaway. Seraphina had fed her parents a lie, and she was supposedly at her friend Brooklynn's house to stay the night. And Harry- well, she didn't know how he managed to get out of the house, but here he was now.

"Of course! I've thought about it numerous times, and honestly, I can't imagine it," she admitted, speaking her mind. She would surely have gone nuts if Harry hadn't been there for her all those years. She'd tried confessing her parent troubles to her friends, but they'd just exchanged impatient glances and gave her looks of pure judgement. "You're the one who keeps me sane, Harry."

"You too," he muttered sleepily, and Seraphina could hear the smile in his voice. "I won't let anything bad happen to you, I promise. I'll keep you safe."

They laid in comfortable silence for a while, and Seraphina thought that maybe Harry had fallen asleep when he suddenly sat up.

"What is it?" she asked in alarm, propping herself up on her elbows.

"I've been wanting to tell you something," Harry blurted out, squirming slightly. Even in the dark, she could see how heated his cheeks were.

"Yeah?"

There was a small silence, then without any warning, he leaned down and pressed his lips to hers, making Seraphina lose her balance on her propped elbows and hit the ground, now lying flat on her back.

After a stunned moment for her brain to process that she, Seraphina Cecily Meyer, was kissing a boy (!!), she reacted. She matched the movement of her lips to his, and her hands somehow found their way to his hair. Within moments, her hands were tangled in the thick smooth surface, while his were cupped around her cheek, only adding to the fluttery sensation in her body.

The whole universe seemed to dissolve into stardust in that moment. The kiss was soft and light, yet left Seraphina feeling as if she'd been tossed by a tidal wave of passion and desire. She wished that it was something she could have captured with a photograph, or wrote down with words, or simply recorded with the detailed lyrics of a song. It was too perfect to just have experienced.

Too soon, they broke apart, and Seraphina stared at Harry, breathless. She'd somehow shifted into a sitting position, and they were much closer in distance than she'd remembered. The night sky seemed to bare a hue of magenta, as if displaying her emotions.

Harry blinked, dazed, then broke into one of his rare grins, dimples and all. Seraphina couldn't help but smile back at him, he looked adorable all flustered with his hair even messier than usual. A work of her hands.

"I love you Seraphina," he breathed, looking happier than she'd ever seen him.

"I love you too, Harry."

"You look awfully delighted, honey," Mrs. Meyer commented the next day, as Seraphina missed her mouth again with her spoon, splashing cereal and milk on the marble counters. "What in the world happened at Brooklynn's last night?"
