I couldn't stop thinking about the family. They all looked so familiar in so many ways. The mother looked as if she could be my sister, the dad as if he could pose as, well, my dad. The brothers, I had no connection to them, just couldn't quite put my finger on it.
I woke that morning to Abby crying. She needed to be fed, I went a grabbed a bottle from the supplies and feed her. After I fed her, I noticed something quite different from the other days. Where is Andrew? Andrew was nowhere to be seen. I ran throughout the house, until I found a note on one of the counters. It read:
Allie,
Went to hunt out in the woods. I'll be back as soon as I have enough food for the trip. Do not leave the camp site. I saw some guards earlier.
Stay hidden,
Andrew
Ok, now I'm stuck here without my protecter
I heard a noise from the woods. Trampling branches, crunching leaves, it was like waiting for death. All of a sudden, I heard my name being called.
"Allie! Allie? Are you alright?"
"Andrew, I'm in the house."
"Oh, good. You didn't leave, I heard some British chatter earlier and I wanted to make sure you stayed put."
"Well I'm good here. Where's the food?"
"I have it here."
I looked behind him and there stood a huge carriage. There was a cart hulled behind it to carry the supplies and food.
"Allie, we have to leave right away. We'll never make it to the Back-country in time."
"Ok, I'll pack the baby and the supplies onto the carriage and you clean up camp."
"It's a done deal."
We started to clean up camp. We rushed so fast that I tripped and fell. Luckily, I wasn't carrying the baby, but still I was carrying all of the small plants, which were now samshed onto the ground. I picked them up quickly so that we may head on.
Everything was packed up onto the cart, the only thing I hadn't noticed before was that there was also a horse. Tall, White-bushy horse. It stood 6 feet tall and was as beautiful as the baby.
"What should we name the horse, Allie? It's your turn."
"Destiny. She is carry us to our destination so that we may live in peace. It's our destiny. Which th horse shall be named Destiny."
"Sounds good. I like it."
"We should get going, before we are noticed."
**************************************************************************
These last few days were a struggle. The carriage broken down twice, The horse at all the food so we had to hunt more, and the plants had died so we had to pick new ones from the ground.
The baby hadn't pitched a fit, I was surprised. She was such a good one that I thought that she didn't have a tempered side at all. She was just a little sweet heart that loved attention.
Andrew had been gone a lot throughout the day. I was the only one left only at the carriage ever. Until, that night. I was waiting for Andrew to come back with dinner, when I heard a howl. Wolves! I ran to the carriage and sttood on top of it. Then I heard a war cry from a distance. A British soldier! I hide inside of the carriage, so that he didn't take me as prisoner. He killed all of the wolves, in a couple shots.
"Are you ok, mam?"
"Who are you calling mam?! You're a Loyalist! Aren't you supposed to kill me?!"
"No mam, I've switched sides. I hate killing innocent people."
"What's you name? Solider?"
"Lieutenant Aaron Baxby."
"Well, I'm Allie Foxtrot. Just call me Allie."
"Call me Aaron."
"Well where are you going to Aaron?"
"Well, I didn't want to be apart of war, so I'm going to the back-country to settle on my own. I heard wolves and a cry, so I came to rescue whatever was being hurt."
"Well you are very brave on coming to help."
"Allie, are you alright?"
"Andrew?"
"Allie, who is the man."
"Andrew, this is Aaron. He saved the baby and I from a pack of wolves."
"A baby? Allie, you never mentioned a baby."
"I'm sorry Aaron, we found a baby back in a shack. Her family was murdered and she was alone. We couldn't let her die."
"Oh ok."
"Like I was saying Andrew, Aaron is also going to the back-country. May he join us, Andrew?"
"Yes, but we better start moving."
