Alone on a hill on a cool summer night
In a little clearing where the moon gives light.
I lie on my back on the smooth soft green grass,
Looking at the stars, waiting for time to pass.
Shining like diamonds up there on high,
Glittering lights decorating the sky!
Many constellations to see tonight,
Like Pegasus and Perseus shining bright.
While I watch them at night I remember the story;
Hercules and the Lion of Greek Mythology.
I also recall Orion and his dog Sirius
And thinking of them now still makes me quite curious.
I relax my mind and clear my head of those stories
Before drifting off to a faraway land with no worry.
I go to places still far beyond my reach,
Seeing the splendor and beauty of each.
Suddenly I am back to where I was before,
But up in the sky the shining stars are no more!
There is a dash of pink in the horizon afar.
The sun is coming; I can't wait to see the next star.
