(Dedicated to areyno03 because her reaction made me smile)

I’m sure it’s not what it looks like. I can’t exactly be mad. Plus this is typical Josie behaviour so I don’t know why I’m so surprised! It was so unlike her on the phone, why had I not been suspicious?

But why is she with marcus?! How can she possibly know him?

Ah I can’t think! Screw it - I am getting some fucking cake!

I ignored the whole ‘manners’ thing and grabbed a fork, taking a bite straight from the heaven mountain. It’s my cake anyway.

Wow, that’s good.

I scooped another bite from the cake and moaned around my fork as the taste enveloped my senses.

Classy.” I heard a snicker from behind me and noticed that Kyle was still standing there, amusement plain all over his face.

“Whatever.” I dismissed and turned away from him and the table of goodness, my eyes scanning the room for my best friend. But the room was full with dancing partners and people laughing and chatting. And I couldn’t see where they went.

I looked across the room to Jex, but he didn’t seem to notice their arrival. I moved my head from side to side, furiously searching for Josie, when I spotted her dancing slightly with a very uninterested Marcus. Really Jose? You could do so much better.

“What’s gotten you all antsy?” Kyle interrupted my panic and was looking around, confused  to what had gotten me worked up.

I decided not to say anything, not wanting to make a fuss without talking to Josie first. It wasn’t like the world was ending or anything.

“Nothing I just... smelt a fart... and was... wondering who it was.”

Quick thinking Nina.

“Um okay, well I’ll leave you to that then.” Kyle walked backwards a few steps before turning away from me.

Before anyone else could stop me, I walked over to Josie’s line of vision in an attempt to catch her attention. When I had reached as close to her as I could without being seen by Marcus, I waved my hands above my head, hoping for her to look my way.

“What can I get you miss?”

I dropped my hands quickly, and snapped my head towards the waiter who was looking at me patiently.

Awkward.

“Oh no sorry, I was just trying to get my friends attention.” I smiled sheepishly and turned back to look at Josie, wincing slightly.

However Josie was already looking at me.

And she did not look happy.

I swallowed nervously as Josie started to approach me.

Rather quickly might I add.

Oh crap, she really looks mad.

I didn’t back away as she reached an arms distance away from me and she started to speak, “Why the heck are-” Before she could finish I grabbed her by the arm and pulled her towards the door that lead to the foyer, weaving through the guests and looking behind me to make sure Marcus hadn’t noticed.

We didn’t say anything until I had closed the door, cutting us off from the party.

“Why the heck are you here Nina!? After trying to convince me not to come!” Josie accused loudly as I turned to her and I flinched from the annoyed look on her face, however I couldn’t help the shock that stretched across my features.
