[Timandu's POV]

Teak flew as fast as his tattered wings would take him, the imp was eager to report back to his master about what he had seen. He flew a great many miles, over disgustingly lush landscapes that finally gave way to bleak, barren land the closer he came to the West of Speronör. In the middle of the wasteland was a dark, menacing tower.

"Master, master!" Teak said as he landed ungracefully on the floor in front of his master. Timandu was sitting on his throne of sun bleached bones, dark cold eyes silently observing his servant's working to neaten up the castle because truthfully, the old castle was in no condition to welcome his new protégé (pronounced: pro-te-jay).

Feeling slightly melancholic, Timandu recalled the elaborate balls and feasts that they threw in his honour. Oh how he missed the adoration in their voices when they called his name as he and Arcanis flew by towns and cities. But that was before they grew afraid of his power and betrayed him. No matter, soon they will all pay for their mistake.

As usual, his dragon Arcanis was curled up behind the throne, lazily observing through slitted yellow eyes. Even curled up, Arcanis was huge and his pitch black scales that were intersected by glowing red streaks made him all the more menacing.

The little grey imp is back, can I eat him Tim? I'm feeling a little peckish... Arcanis growled. Teak noticed the huge dragon staring hungrily at him and nervously inched backwards.

'Haha no Arcanis, I need to see if he is still useful at providing information, after all, you know as well as I do that the only reason he is here is because his kind have their uncanny ability to seek out potential recruits... if he has not determined which of the children will join me then you can go ahead and eat him,' Timandu communicated to his dragon through thought.

Turning his eyes to the imp crouched fearfully on the floor in front of him Timandu said, "Teak, what news have you brought for me?"

"Master, you were right, there are four of the new arrivals..."

"Yes I know, I was the one who sent you to find out more details of their arrival, not to come back and tell me things I already knew." Timandu paused for effect, "You better tell me something useful or I can't promise that Arcanis here won't be snacking on imp."

Teak paled till he looked almost white but he contiued, "Well, I have already determined which one of the children has the highest potential for joining you..."

Timandu grinned, "Good, now go and tell our friend at the academy and she'll know what to do." Teak bowed respectfully and flitted off.

"Pack your things Arcanis, we will soon betaking our rightful place as the rulers of Speronör." Timandu said gleefully.
